King of Alcatraz

Underwritten, rushed. It's a B-picture, so they have the cram as much as possible in there for the hour long format that it doesn't really know what it wants to be. Uses way too much time establishing the main guys as rival pals. Lloyd Nolan and movie debutante Robert Preston, two seamen, always fighting over those girls. Tries to bring a fun mood, in stark contrast to when the criminals enter their ship. Get a lot grimmer, but the build-up didn't feel satisfactory. At least it gives variety.
