If you like those Bava Gothic horrors with swirling mist, cobwebs, superstitious townsfolk, rich set design, great camerawork, huge colours, a sense of dread, hammy leads, glowering brunettes, atmospheric music, creepy kids, creepy dolls, set-piece kills, howling winds and no small talent behind the camera, you'll probably like this. If you're not sure, you'll probably like this anyway. Ticks so many boxes that it'll almost certainly be considered influential. Good stuff.

The moment when he chases an unknown figure until he ultimately catches himself is quite powerful. I don't know what's going on but I love it. Plus, let's whip a girl with a plant.

Bava was an impeccable craftsman, and it was this quality that enables fans and newcomers to overlook the narrative shortcomings of films like Kill Baby, Kill, a memorable gothic chiller admired by Scorsese and Lynch. His lighting is expressive and colourful, and his camera movements are creative and fluid. The baroque sets and production design are beautifully atmospheric, featuring brightly lit hallways and a spooky spiral staircase covered in cobwebs and dust.

A pretty average plot, but the visual style and Gothic atmosphere are more than enough to make me like this one quite a bit. Although the quick push shots and rocking camera movements did get a little tiring after a bit, I could tell Bava was just having a lot of fun playing with the camera and lighting to see what kinds of neat shots he could muster.

Another gothic horror with a plot that's rather silly and hackneyed, but Bava maintains a creepy atmosphere throughout. Once again, there's some marvelous images and Bava makes excellent use of colored lighting. The "endless room" bit at the climax was clever, and there's a lot of fun stuff like that. I suspect this movie was a strong influence on The Shining, especially in the ghostly appearance of a genteelly-dressed little girl and also some of the musical cues were quite similar.

Especially interesting because of its real time take on what happens in one night. It's able to maintain its suspense because of the speed at which events happen throughout the night causing anxiety for both the characters and the audience. Bravo Mario.

Attractively ruinous locations colourfully rendered with a moving camera, complicated editing effects and good use of light and shadow, especially in the scenes involving a spiral staircase (eight years after VERTIGO), but there's absolutely nothing going on in terms of character, narrative or themes (grief turns supernaturally into hate), and the title seems to belong to a different movie altogether. Would be best turned into a series of "paintings that could move" (as David Lynch calls them).

I wish it made a bit more sense at the end, but it's tense and scary all the way through and as expected from Bava it has splendid visual style.

A moody and stylistic smoldering burn up until the last 13 minutes which is the stuff nightmares are made of - profound, bizarre and almost unexplained. Super-props to a killer soundtrack and amazing casting. Slow in parts but overall worthwhile and fun!

"This conflict between modern medicine and superstition lends Kill, Baby...Kill! a moral volatility that's noticeably absent from other films in Bava's canon." - Ed Gonzalez

A dumb title masks one of Bava's eeriest chillers. Beautifully photographed in rich color, this boasts haunting images that obviously inspired the great Fellini while shooting his segment for the Poe anthology _Spirits of the Dead_.

Bava's earlier cinematography experience shows in nearly every frame of this intensely atmospheric Eastmancolor affair, from a _Seventh Seal_-like hilltop tableau to Rossi-Stuart's murky descent into a local crypt.

Bland supernatural period-horror. Hammer did this sort of thing so much better.

I'm a sucker for a thick, sustained atmosphere of dread, and this film is one of the absolutely best at it I've ever seen. Legitimately chilling, great score, the lighting and cinematography, it all just adds up to an underrated masterpiece. I did not expect to like this nearly as much as I did, but it's instantly a new favorite. DO NOT TRY TO WATCH THE ENGLISH DUB OF THIS. I STARTED BECAUSE THAT WAS WHAT WAS AVAILABLE AND STOPPED BECAUSE IT WAS SO BAD. SPEND THE TIME TRACKING DOWN THE ITALIAN.

A gothic horror movie by Mario Brava, it has a fairly standard plot (to me) while also finding an interesting angle in who is good and who is 'evil', with somewhat reversed roles from the norm. The story itself didn't truly grab me, but the colors and scenes in this movie were a delight. Also, that house sure has a lot of cobwebs? I haven't seen a lot of Brava's work so far, but I did prefer Black Sabbath to this one.

Starts of a bit slow, but transforms into a very atmospheric gothic horror. Often credited as the movie that started the "creepy kid" trope.

the damn movie couldn't keep me awake. I kept passing out from the slow, slow story. Borrowing from the Hammer tradition in the worst way, the character's aren't given much to do beyond race back and forth from town to haunted estate or wait around for the spookiness to come to them. So while taken piece by piece there's no BAD scene, trying to sit through the whole for me was a challenge...one I passed out attempting, not finishing until 5 sittings
