Kid Millions

The best of Eddie Cantor's musical fantasies has some wonderful songs and congenially bizarre comedy bits hung on a rags-to-riches story that takes Eddie from an East River tugboat to the Far East. Of course there's the obligatory blackface number -- get over it. This is a charming, good-natured film with a spectacular technicolor finale. Everybody should watch more Cantor.

Typical Eddie Cantor! Stupid, brilliant and all over the spectrum. Lots of familiar faces in this one and he lets them have their time sharing the musical numbers and comedy spotlight so the over-the-top comedy is spread around and doesn't get monotone. The comedy is wacky, sometimes a bit too much. The singing and dancing is more then solid, and you got Cantor doing his Minstrel blackface routine. And to top it all off the movie ends with a grand ice cream number in color! Good spirited fun!
