First feature film I've had the pleasure of seeing from director Tomu Uchida. A complex cop drama of the silent kind with a lot of fine details. A lot of rougher edges too, which suited the noir-ish atmosphere of a policeman torn between friendship and his oath to uphold the law. Lurking build-up and a intense climax. Good to know there are more quality Japanese films from the 1930s getting their dust brushed off.
