Despite being on his uppers, George is still prepared to pawn his beloved banjo in order to help his girlfriend save her niece from the orphanage. Help seems to be at hand when George is left a fortune by his old auntie, but unfortunately his inheritance is hidden inside a chair which has already been auctioned off! Can George and his chums track down his rightful due before his grasping solicitor (Alastair Sim, in an early film appearance) snatches the lot?

George Formby inherits some valuables, but to prevent envy the deceased has put the jewels in a chair Formby has to buy at an auction. However he doesn't have the money to buy so someone else buys the chairs and he has to hunt them down. And he's got time for some songs along the way. Goofy comedy naturally and none look goofier then Formby when singing his songs on his ukulele. Not the best George Formby comedy I've seen, but it had it's laughs.
