This was a war movie that concerned itself more with politics and strategy than with battle.

In a way this gave off Seven Samurai vibes for me. Don't get me wrong, it's not as good or focused, but it takes the establishing of the characters, preparing tactically for war and then the battle with a rather nice ambiance. Wasn't always exciting, but there was some magic about this epic attempt at an old war.
