Bachchan was a powerhouse in this. This was a long sprawling drama with good performances from all of the leads and most of the secondary characters. It does get a little preachy at times but it's balanced by the fact that you can feel the grime and hopelessness of the working conditions and almost understand how the petty squabbles escalate so badly.
