It may not feel or look like much, but by the end of it, you realize that you've just watched a movie that has wrestled with some weighty themes in a genuine and impactful way. There is no real drama present, minus a few little disagreements, but it didn't need it. These characters were brought to life really well, especially by Kingsley, but the others weren't slouches at all. Does the film call attention to itself? Nah, but it's a rewarding experience.

easy to watch, a bit of "Alf" nostalgia, your typical type of movie u'd watch with somebody in the evening to get that "feel good" vibe

Jules is a film about dementia, old age, loneliness and friendship; it also has a an alien that can explode heads. With a 90 minute runtime, it's not a long film, but often feels a bit slow as it leans more towards soppy drama with the occasional amusing moment rather than comedy. Kinglsey, Harris and Curtin deliver strong enough performances to make it worth watching, but it remains a middling film.

Perfectly cute, a little clunky, and not shy about being sentimental. Honestly, I found this to be quite amiable. It certainly helps that Ben Kingsley and Harriet Sansom Harris are such pros that bring depth to characters that could have sufficed with less. And I do really like that the alien is pointedly non-schticky.

A bit too silly, not in a laugh out loud way but in a unnecessarily quirky way. I felt slightly uncomfortable that they link seemingly dementia with the main characters talk of suddenly having (or buying for) an alien. I'd like to have found this funny but I didn't really. Its not horrendously dull, its just ok-ish and not more really. I wouldn't go out of your way to see this as such though.

Charming. Though low key, it's still funny

A silly but sweet movie about an old man and his friends who meet an humanoid alien. I would have handled all of it quite differently, and would most definitely have gone along for the ride.
