Joy Ride: Dead Ahead

I really enjoyed the first one, which got really thrilling moments but this crap deserves to be burned in the " hell of bad sequels"

Je ne rejoins pas les commentaires. Cette suite gagne en intensité, et même si ce n'est peut être l'extension la plus intelligente qui soit, la violence accrue, réserve son lot de surprises, et notamment une séquence avec un jeu macabre. Les acteurs inconnus font du bon travail. Des gros défauts, la scène dans la morgue avec un faux suspense amateur, inutile à l’intrigue, ou un geek à claques qui sort de nulle part. C'est aussi un petit budget très voyant, les décors paraissent moins naturels.

Decent enough sequel which has the feel of the original, which is important. The clear budget limitations show through, with the effects especially. The actors you should be rooting for are rather annoying and hard to root for.

Same bad guy as Joy Ride (2001), none of the fun or suspense or that slight bit of personality that movie had. Defaults instead to even more generic horror movie formulas, unbelievably stupid main characters, and almost goofy sadism by the killer, including some torture porn.

Sad Ride 2: Tears Ahead UNRATED. This movie bored me to tears. Hanging out at truck stops talking to lot lizards sounds like more fun than this movie. This had none of the thrilling soul that the first one did. I even missed Paul Walker in this one. The characters were all forgettable. The bad trucker guy didn't even say "Candy Cane" this time... just Goldielocks...

When it comes to direct-to-video sequels, it's hard to hope for much. But when the original film is so good, you have to come in with at least some sort of raised expectations. Unfortunately, Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead is not at all worth seeing. It transforms what could have been an iconic villain and turns him into a generic bad guy, it has no lead characters worth cheering for, and it's all just sort of dull. You have little reason to watch it.

It didn't at all manage to stick to what worked so well in the original. JJ Abrams and John Dahl did such a great job in making a horror based what you hear, but don't see, and te suspense from what you think could happen. You were much more in the seat of the characters in the first one. Dead Ahead breaks all that and becomes your regular teen slasher, that turns to visualizing the gore, instead of keeping you at the edge of your seat.

There are two things that really hurt this film. First they had Rusty Nail just killing people for dumb reasons or non at all, as opposed to in the first where the main leads pranked him things kept getting elevated. And second they made him into an almost unstoppable supernatural being that is more ghost or demon than crazy truck driver.

Somehow worse than the first.

Nothing special. Didn't have what the first one had to be a great movie, meaning it wasn't that entertaining.

A rather well made B-movie, only by B-movie standards, of course. Fails to be interesting while having slightly stupid plot and acting.
