From one of the writers of 'Mr. Bean's Holiday'. Ominous, indeed. Being a fan of Mr. Bean, I - naturally - approached this quite the sceptic and the humour is, it must be said, rather lowbrow. Fair enough. Worse are the scenes with English repeatedly attacking old ladies; that's the sort of thing which has been done to death. On the plus side, though, are Atkinson's comedic talent, Pike's ability to sell their "relationship" sweetly and the fact that this is rather well produced. It gets a pass.

The delightful idiocy at the center of the character is enhanced in this outing by a clever suaveness conceit and new bumbling efficacy, and it's all polished just enough to give the film a sleek look without diminishing Atkinson's linchpin performance. If only they could have lampshaded the Bond girl, too: the "romance" added nothing but discomfort.

Not as good as the first, not very clever, yadda yadda... Rosamund Pike was genuinely charming and everything else was probably the kind of thing I would've loved if I was 12 years old watching this. Unfortunately, I'm not, so I didn't. Laughed a few times, and I am an Atkinson fan, but... meh.

Has a few good sequences (see the clever spoof of the classic rooftop chase, pointless helicopter hijack, awkwardly delayed bathroom confrontation) but also some cringe-worthy ones (see the opening Tibet training montage, life-saving kiss). Most of the rest is in between: a mediocre spy plot (who was this murderous lady who kept showing up?) slathered with slight-chuckle-worthy slapstick and dramatic irony along the lines of the first film, just with a little less luster this time around.

I thought it was brilliant stuff. Certainly the charisma of Rowan Atkinson played a huge deal.
Look, some of the stuff he does is just plain dumb (like the scene with the chair) but it just made me laugh my ass off. The scenes with mistaken identities was hilarious because I didn't for a moment think they would be so irreverent towards old ladies. The killer lady is definitely a memorable character.
A few cheesy parts made me wince, but thoroughly and shamelessly entertaining.

While I admire Rowan Atkinson and his comical skills greatly, I generally dislike Mr.Bean's films. Unfortunately, J.E. reborn has more of the latter and lacks the wits of its predecessor, leaving the audience with a bunch of clichés, Atkinson's occasional genius shining through, and of course: the weapon of parody. Disappointing, but still so much better than the best 'real' Bond film.

As to be expected, this film wont make you think or challenge in any way but if you want PG rated entertainment that all the family will enjoy and laugh at. This will do the job.

I was never really a fan of R. Atkinson, but he can make me laugh and I certainly laughed a lot in this film. The scenes are so cheesy and beefed up as I have rarely seen before, but our Mr. Bean still makes you laugh at them in the end. A funny 2 hour ride that nobody pretends it's more than that. Cliche alert!

they had more budget, put more efforts on the cinematic side of the thing, and figured making the character so horribly stupid made it impossible to have a plot going. The bad guys are less funny, but the movie is more watchable than the first one, with slightly better spoofs too. Crazy cast though, what!

Komik James Bond.

Fun. It feels a bit like Atkinson is trying to explore the comedy spoof genre in the way Ace Ventura and Leslie Nielsen used to in the 90s. It works, in a hit-and-miss way. The supporting cast is better than Atkinson, particularly Pike and Gillian Anderson.

Certainly more forgettable than the original, "Johnny English Reborn" sometimes feels rather forced but is overall redeemed by the always reliable Rowan Atkinson and the occasional highlights.

Better than the first and actually dancing on the edge of being genuinely good at points, putting more effort into a proper Bondian feel by working a little harder than a spoof needs to in its action scenes and sets. Ultimately Johnny English himself is more frustrating than funny as a character though, and still no Austin Powers.

Johnny English Reborn is a serviceable but forgettable sequel that probably materialised too long after it's predocessor. Rowan Atkinson isn't going through the motions by any means. With many of his characters he has the remarkable comic ability to effortlessly bring them back without any sense of all the years that they've been away. But even though there's certainly a handful of humorous moments, ultmately this sequel is forgettable, unnecessary and the Bond parody formulae is tired.

Tries too hard, and has the same problem as the Get Smart remake: it can't decide whether the protagonist should be a super-competent secret agent or a bumbling fool and reaches for both.

I love a stupid movie and kind of hoped this would fill a Leslie Nielsen void. Instead I got a zero-calorie, aspertane filled Austin Powers (including some of THE SAME JOKES). It definitely did have some good moments, but they were separated by total monotony, a dismal array of characters, and shameful product placement.
