Good cast, with Nolan and Lamour especially so ("As far as 20 bucks and a mink coat'll take me"...lol).

Tyrone Power was handsome on the dark side, but not much more then that. Apart from the half-weaknesses Johnny Apollo (1940) has some vital qualities.... Mainly Dorothy Lamour, like a photograph that could sing. A tormented soul, with a heart that was still working, she grabs the attention like few others! She was definitely the icon here. Edward Arnold makes a lot out of his character too. There is something that beats inside the people in this underworld.
