Jiu Jitsu

Scene to scene, some of them literally can’t edit into one another - the film forgets where it is and stumbles drunkenly and tells the Main Character *HE’S* the idiot with amnesia. The film’s gaslighting me for the moments Nic Cage begs for a pickle because he’s hungry, that’s not fair.

Cheesy as hell and maybe even a bit bloated for a 102 minute flick -- maybe the first half is to blame. But hell, it's fun, with fights that take their time to happen and unfold, despite some clumsy acting by Moussi. It's basically a bunch of duels -- each one of the seven human fighters against the rubber-suited alien -- and nearly no plot. I just wish it was a bit better directed in terms of myth-making and narrative, but that's ok. I'm all in for sequels.

The best part is that they seem to have allowed Cage to do whatever he wanted. Moussi is a pretty bad actor and the plot is just Predator mixed with Bourne. Fun enough to watch to where it's not unbearable.

This was proper garbage. Aside from the awful plot, script, and cinematography, what should keep me going through the movie if it's made clear that there are no stakes until the final fight? If at least the payoff had been decent I'd have been on board, that was a massive stinker. At least watching Nic Cage do a slow mo front flip with 4 camera cuts was funny in a very sad way.

If all you care about is the martial arts fighting there are a few excellent fighting moments in this. Alain Moussi had some pretty awesome moves. Hand-to-hand fighting against guns was really stupid, and the camera was all over the place. Cage stinks it up a bit but was not nearly as bad as Eddie Steeples. The premise is laughable and the alien was handled somewhat pathetically. Worth watching for a few good Jiu-Jitsu fight scenes but that's about it.

A lot of fun. At any moment I expected JCVD to show up, but he didn't... Sure, it's unpolished, dumb, derivative... but so what? If this movie became a model for all B-movies from now on, the world would be a better place.

Delightfully nonsensical. It's *just* well-made enough to let you focus on how incoherent the plot is, the way characters just drop in and out, the terrible acting from everybody except a decided-to-go-full-goofy Nick Cage, the fascinatingly weird stylistic flourishes of the cinematography, and the fact there's no reason they couldn't have just done what they did at the end at the beginning. A fun Bad Movie Night experience where the one who's being pummeled by martial arts... is your own brain!

what a waste. It has the premise (a combo of Predator and kung fu action) to be a very entertaining movie and it has some inventive ideas, like a long take from a first person POV, but alas the execution is so terrible the enjoyable parts can't make up for all the bad parts.

I'm giving some props for Nic Cage, who is a lot of fun, and for the first couple of action scenes, but overall this film lost my interest around the halfway point.

Some neat action scenes in the beginning but then the movie quickly falls apart and geht's really boring.

This film is all over the place, it is like they put some genres in a blender and just filmed whatever came out. There are some interesting scenes but overall this film is a mess.

It's not the worst movie ever but one of the worst of 2020. Action choreography is horribly uninspired and lacks any sense of impact or oomph. Acting is bad across the board, Cage hams it up but not in a pleasant way. Scriptis not organic, it's more just people yelling plot points to further the story; it does the bare minimum narratively, relying a lot of conventions without adding any unique flavour. Music is bland and repetitive as well, which makes the fighting worse.
