Slow, kinda intriguing, but mostly uninteresting and doesn't spell out any surprises at all.

Well intentioned, but ultimately dull and predictable tale of redemption is so low-key it initially presents as a documentary. Because we know nothing about Smith's shell-shocked protagonist, it makes it difficult (and ultimately impossible) to believe in his quest, outside of the heavy handed metaphoric portent. Its main selling point is the stunning cinematography, presenting sun-baked Afghanistan to its advantage.
