This film has the dubious dual honour of being based on a true story, and being banned in China for representing a suicidal act. Unfortunately the film's reputation is probably the most interesting thing about it, because, well-filmed as it is, the movie is far too straight and documentarian. It fails to get inside the mind of its protagonist, or discuss any of the juicy issues about suicide, the human condition, suffering, performance art and the borders that are being crossed here.
