Off the beaten path of life, three people stumble into a fateful encounter. Thomas, young and strong, has been dishonorably discharged from the army. Filme ilk başladığımda, sosyo-politik altyapısının filmin önüne geçeceğini düşünmüştüm. Patron (Türk), patronun eşi (Alman) ve eski Alman askeri (işçi) ama filmde arzu ve tutkunun gücü sadece aşkı düşündürtmeye yetiyor. Bir neo-noir örneği olan film, keyifli müzikleri ve Petzold'un yalın sinematografisinde güzel bir seyir zevki.

Peztold holds the tension well, while being patient with the action, allowing it unfold slowly and deliberately. Further, the stillness of the camera contributes to a stifling atmosphere, which works as a counterpoint to the strong feelings each of the characters is feeling. So when emotion breaks out occasionally, there is a striking quality to it that stands out from the rest of the action. Very well done.

Basically well-made but overly familiar (reminding me especially of the better Revanche). Petzold's style no longer seems particularly artistically "minimal" and more simply functionally austere, which is fine but works against the film feeling like anything exceptional.
