Jennie Gerhardt

Starts out okay with Sylvia Sidney as a poor girl who ends up charming an older man and her life takes a sideways turn when the man dies and she has her baby. Then she meets Donald Cook who gets frozen out of his family because he falls for this servant girl. Solid ingredients for a middle of the road love dilemma, but the story dwells into bad luck boredom. And it's poorly done. They don't even take enough advantage of Sidney's beautiful smile with all the sad turns this story takes.
