Jeffrey

Tries to make a comedy out of AIDS and then bounces around breaking the fourth wall in an awkward attempt to avoid the very subject the film is about. It also thinks it's significantly more charming and smart than it actually is. There are some okay moments, mostly when it stops trying to be a combination of clever and distracting and settles into a relationship comedy, but those are much too rare. On the other hand, Patrick Stewart is great and really needs to do ridiculous comedy more.

Interesting and much more open-hearted than one might expect. It's also a lot less funny than most comedies, thanks to the dark subject matter, and the sort of person Jeffrey is.
