Jealousy

What many forget is that Gustav Machatý, famous for Erotikon (1929) and Ekstase (1933), also worked in Hollywood. Unfortunately he rarely got a gig, which makes Republic Pictures Jealousy (1945) almost remarkable as one of the very few works he actually had control over. This doesn't feel like a American movie at all, as Machatý's European sensitivities shines through almost excessively. I can see it alienating many, but for me it was a nice soft touch to a romantic tragedy. Unique in many way
