Where you all see an incompetently directed slasher film, I see trenchant social commentary. In an early part of the story, Jason inhabits the body of a young black man, a "hellish" fate in the America of the early 90s. Consider the film's temporal proximity to the Rodney King trial and the-- ahahaha, just kidding, this movie is a piece of shit.

I would like to start a class action law suit against the people who have ruined the Friday The 13th series, because I believe after having watched all of them I may have become slightly retarded. It appears they have no respect for the originals, by making Jason a mega-beast with god-like powers the movies have become nearly unwatchable. I do have to say there are some cool special effects and death scenes, and at least it's not as bad as Jason Takes Manhattan.

Jason doesn't shut up in this movie, we are drenched in all of the sounds of an old man trying to piss through his bowling ball prostate. I kind of like this movie , not that it's good or interesting but the disdain it has for the audience. It's like finally getting a seat in the fanciest restaurant and the waiter keeps coming by and pissing in your mouth. Drown me in piss the steak here is great or so I've been lead to believe.

Oh great. Here comes the dog of the series. Starts out with the right amount of cheese. The kills are using gore effectively. I kind of like that this is the "Fallen" version of Jason, possessing anybody he wants. Oh my God, the tent kill scene is as good as the sleeping bag from VII! This is actually fun! I like this movie! - !!!WARNING!!! This review is only subject to those watching eight movies of a similar nature back to back before viewing the film. Results may vary. Void in Delaware.

The ninth film in the "Friday the 13th" series is generally regarded by the fandom as the worst of the franchise. Surprisingly "The Final Friday" was one of the better change-up attempts in the series yet. More so than the "not-Jason" killer of "A New Beginning", the psychic battle with "not-Carrie" in "The New Blood", or the change in scenery with the boring boat ride in "Jason Takes Manhattan" this continuity be damned, deadite body swapping plot led to one enjoyably memorable mess of a movie.

It's safe to say that any connection with the first film is now pretty remote. Continuity be damned. It's more like The Hidden, or something. I can't remember the music being as bad in the other instalments; maybe it was and I just didn't notice. It had a couple of moments that made me go "yuck", but other than that it was pretty dull. The plot was a series of baffling devices introduced by the weird bounty hunter. And that final shot - why?

People complain about Jason not being in Manhattan for most of the 8th installment, but at least he actually goes there. Spoiler: Jason does not go to hell. Instead, we see Jason hop between bodies in an attempt to kill his last blood relatives before they can kill him because apparently that's the only way Jason can die. How fucking dumb is that? Is it really that hard to just have Jason kill some sexy teens in gruesome ways? Why this extraneous bullshit nobody cares about?

Jason goes to Hell isn't an offensively bad Friday the 13th film, but it also isn't an especially good one. The kills are sometimes fun and the in-jokes are amusing, but the Jason we've come to know is notably absent for most of the proceedings, the new mythology introduced here brings with it a ton of questions and plot holes that will never be filled, and if you were hoping to see Jason fight his way out of Hell, you're going to be incredibly disappointed.

Well it's better than most of the Friday the 13th sequels that come before it but that's not saying much and that's not saying it's a good movie by any stretch. The only positive aspects of the film are a few intentionally cheesy jokes that are actually funny. Aside from that it's garbage. Plus it packs the worst female protagonist ever, Jessica, who suffers from chronic worthlessness and I-can't-reach-it-itus. Like I said it's better than most of the sequels but it's still entirely missable.

(2016 Jasonthon #9:) The general impression I get from the internet is that this is regarded as the worst of the series, and it's definitely bad but I still enjoyed a little more than Jason Takes Manhattan. The body swapping thing is a bizarre change of direction but one I can go with. The sex scene in the tent is surprisingly long and graphic; if I hadn't been watching with my wife I probably would have rewinded and, uh, watched again. A couple cool kills. Mostly dumb shit though.

Definitely the worst of the series, I've had the displeasure of watching. Adam Marcus directs all of his horrible actors in a shoddily-written script that took place in Hell, less than the previous movie did in Manhattan. If you skip one of the installments, make it this one.

We really are flogging a dead horse at this point; dreary, spectacularly stupid series entry takes a strategic dump on all we know about Jason's backstory, forcing him into a dull and lethargic spin on BODY SNATCHERS (and yes, Jason 'appears' in Hell for even less time than he was in Manhattan). Please come back Mrs Voorhees, if only to stalk the film-makers that committed this atrocity on your son!

Retcons Jason's backstory considerably & so the fans hate it. The truth is at least this has a plot which is more than you can say for many of these movies. The first 20 minutes are surprising & pull you in even if you don't like where it goes. W/ a little more refining the story would've worked best as a NON-Jason cable tv midnight movie back in the 90's. Expectations being what they are however, it's a finale that revamps too much of what we know. Still it's a standout story for the franchise

Okay, so this movie undoubtedly horrendous but I actually do find myself enjoying it for its silliness. It has problems outside of the obvious: Jason really isn't in the movie and it feels a lot cheaper than its predecessors. Luckily we have enough stupidity (and not the bad kind like the childhood Jason in part 8) to keep it entertaining. That's one word I can use to sum this movie up: entertaining. It's slime from the bottle of the barrel, but you can't help but want to stick your finger in it

Nothing about this movie works. It feels very cheaply made, and the story is an atrocity that completely butchers the continuity. But unlike Part VIII, this one manages to reach the "so bad it's good" level. It's very fun to watch how awful the story can get. Despite how poorly written the characters are, some of them are fun to watch, with the standout being a waitress who, out of the blue, nearly kills Jason in a fight. From the opening scene, you can expect some enjoyable garbage in this one.

The soundtrack is possibly the greatest/worst collection of noise ever assembled on film. Just pure gold and a worthy drinking game for the future if I ever develop amnesia and/or brain damage and watch this again. Every character is impossible to like, especially Jason, who is so ridiculous in every conceivable way that seeing him kill is straight up gay. Also, the fact that you only see like 2 naked chicks is pretty disappointing for such a throwaway horror film.

This earns points for trying something different with the series but sometimes tends toward murkiness -- both dramatically and visually -- while the cast is excellent. The ending is effective but the final twist (involving a cameo by a certain gloved slasher) is strictly for laughs. The unrated version has very graphic FX and some surprising frontal male nudity, while the R-rated cut is much drier.

The poster for this film was one of those VHS covers that has stuck in my head my whole life (another big one? Uncle Sam). This film decides to tell you exactly how it ends in the title. Rare for a film to do that. Creates a new mythology about Jason, which removes everything people like about the Friday films. Has that weird early-90s cinematography that makes low-budget films feel even worse.

Totally bonkers. Suddenly adds heaps of wacky lore (cf. Halloween 6, the first 90s entry of that franchise) to a series that didn't really care about backstory after part 2. The plot makes no sense, the tone is totally wrong and once again Jason proper is barely in the movie. That said, like Part V which is also totally madcap, and also lacking Jason, and also hated by most fans, I'd rather watch crazy nonsense than a totally lame, flat non-entity (looking at you Manhattan).

Abysmal end to the original series took obvious cues from Freddy's Dead, which was a truly terrible film. J.G.T.H throws the old mythology out the window, along with the distinctive atmospherics, and replaces it with body switching hokum and bland TV style visuals. There is a conspicuous lack of Jason action, and the new music is composed of extremely irritating staccato synth stabs. Debating whether it's worse than Jason X is about as pointless as making the case for gonorrhea over syphillis.

"Jason Goes to Hell" may not be the final "Friday" as promised, but I sure as hell wish it was. All of the franchise's worst attributes are only amplified here, its mythos made infinitely less compelling by redefining its leading man as a body-hopping, indisputably supernatural psycho. Sure, it explains how he's managed to survive the ridiculous odds thrown his way over the last decade, but it only serves to make Jason less real, less tangible, and less frightening. A truly cynical mess.

So I find it weird that criticker suggests similar scores for both. There were some decent surprising monster effects near the end too.

This is just bad. There isn't much redeeming about this one. The "lore" they attempted to add is dreadful. They tried to retcon everything that we know about Jason in the most boring cliche ways possible. None of it works and parts are so cringe, it's unbearable. On top of that, the kills and special effects are some of the worst of the entire series. That being said, some of the cameos and easter eggs are fun, but they can't possibly make up for anything else.

The second "Friday The 13th" movie with "final" in the title (and no, of course it's not the last one, duh), "Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday" deserves points for attempting something different in the franchise and, frankly, does have its moments, including a really neat prosthetics sequence. However, the lore expansion is just moronic, unoriginal tripe conveyed through either exposition or fuck-ugly gore, the slow motion action scenes suck, and some of the effects aren't easy on the eyes.

Nothing to like but the extravagant, over the top make-up effects by Kurtzman and Nicotero -- worms jumping out of bodies, bodies falling apart like heated butter et al. Because the plot, oh my God: after Jason is destroyed by a SWAT team, his heart possesses who ever crosses his path until he finds his sister, who works at the Twin Peaks' diner, niece or her kid -- only one of them might kill him or make him reborn. Freddy's claws pulling Jason's mask to hell is really dull.

As a movie, it's awful. As a continuation of the Friday franchise, it's even worse. It abandons every single constant of the series and goes off in a ridiculous, random and nonsensical new direction that introduces Jason's long-lost relatives, Jason himself body-hopping, a psycho bounty hunter named Creighton, and a really. really forced romantic subplot that's hardly touched upon. But, to be quite honest, it's still more entertaining than Part 8- even if just because it's such a dumpster fire.

Easily the series' best, at least of those I have seen, which includes the first half hour of the one set in the future, on a spaceship, and the entirety of the one that purports to be 'vs' the burned paedophile from 'Nightmare on Elm Street'. (Given Jason's age at time of 'death', a theme the makers neglected to properly explore). Jason isn't really in this one, at least in any recognisable way, and the decision to not remake the second film and call it a sequel was, relatively speaking, wise.

Jason doesn't get much screen time, but at least they're trying something different. It's also very fast paced and bloody, so I wasn't bored. They try to introduce some new mythology to the mix, which is pretty ridiculous and brings to mind Halloween sequels. The style is quite odd and it's hard to say if e.g. the bounty hunter was intended to be taken seriously or not.
