Not as bad as I thought it would be, but it is woefully unnecessary and you can definitely tell the writing quality dropped a bit after author Ludlum passed away. Alicia Vikander was the best performer and character here, but everyone else is still solid and I loved Vincent Cassel. Greengrass manages to direct all of the action (which is still incredible) with ease. The editing isn't nearly as bad as others led me to believe. Revisiting the character was fun, but I'll stick with the trilogy.

a real editing nightmare, featuring really serious looking people walking really fast all across the globe. actors in greengrass' movies seem to get paid per mile, no one stands still in this. ever. complemented by a strictly by the numbers-script, this is getting old, just like its protagonists. speaking of which, how do they get people like tommy lee jones to sign up for this? oh, right... money. the prime source of motivation in filmmaking these days.

Matt Damon is good but the story has run its course I think. I can't watch another scene involving enhanced images or computers going beep beep boop. Also Alpha and Bravo teams need to up their game. Those guys got their asses handed to them yet again.

Close-ups, shaky-cam and overlong chases are back with a vengeance equaling Bourne himself, pleasing no-one. The first act is way off, with lots of 0% plausible and 100% contrived computer mumbo jumbo setup. The middle is a bit of a bore (Bourne himself seems to agree). The final act really packs a punch though, and it redeems the film pretty well. It's a slow burner - once it sinks its teeth in it's pretty satisfying. But I'm not sure I would recommend it, or that I even like this franchise.

Matt Damon looks incredibly bored learning about his past for the fourth time despite the loud obnoxious repetitive soundtrack and incomprehensible action sequences. They've strip-mined every ounce of material from this series, oh no not another dangerous black ops program!, and the generic title is ever appropriate for a film that plays like a best-of highlight reel that forgot to add the best-of parts.

Entertaining in a generic action thriller sort of way. I got to watching for steady-cam shots, and I tell ya I could count them on one hand. One hand with four fingers cut off. And why is a 25-year-old hottie heading a CIA division? Yeah I need to go back to the first three or four (Bourne movies, not hotties) to see why I liked them so much.

Competently made, and enjoyable enough. I felt like I'd seen this before, though, and it was more interesting and exciting first time. The action scenes got a bit silly at times, although they looked good. A lot of the characters felt a bit bland, but Cassel was a worthwhile addition. This one doesn't really have enough to warrant me going back for another look, but it's fine.

Jason Bourne's script may mostly be repetitions from Supremacy and Ultimatum's set pieces, and it's clear there's not a bright fresh idea to move the series further, but the end product is still extremely fun to watch. I enjoyed every minute of it and am glad that we got the chance to see more from this team. I'm a Bourne fan, so take this opinion with a grain of salt, but this was a fantastic experience for me nonetheless.

Hollywood sees dollar signs in a franchise and they begin to cut corners, assuming people will pay to watch the movie anyway. This is the first Bourne movie to stray from the books and it shows, they didn't even bother to come up with a title here. Everyone thought that once Damon left after the third that the series would die, but "The Bourne Legacy" was a great movie, I never would have thought that the series would devolve into generic thriller material now that Damon is back. Joke's on me.

This is the weakest outcome from dir Greengrass portfolio and although Damon is back and the big action-artillery are deployed, JB is a mild disappointment. Unfortunately, you can also notice that the lead character has reached a turning point. He's not interesting anymore. The org trilogy maintained spectator because you constantly had added new pages to the figure and explored dilemmas and established a good psychological profile. This time he is just a killing machine, looking for revenge.

Jason Bourne is no doubt a film of collaberative filmmaking quality. But overall I was underwhelmed by what feels more like a side note as apposed to the next chapter in the Bourne story. Plot wise this is something of a none entity in comparison to the depth and layers of the original trilogy. Matt Damon has little to do and the supporting cast almost feel overqualified for their roles. That said, Paul Greengrass delivers once again with the set pieces and this film excels in it's final third.

Jason Bourne feels a lot like a light version of the first three films. It hits all the same notes, but there isn't as much heft to it. The action is still fun, and watching it play with all of the pieces it's put into play is enjoyable, but the plot feels like such a nonentity, the characters are mostly one-dimensional, and the shaky-cam needs to be toned down a lot. It's a step up from Legacy, but it's easily the weakest of the Damon-led films.

Almost immediately clear that this movie is a cash cow. The plot is weak and a lot of it seems to just be copy paste from the previous movies. It’s not a bad movie it’s just not a good Bourne movie, and I was soon more occupied with counting how many times Vikanders accent changed from weird “American”(?) to something that should resemble English to maybe eastern european. And first time I’ve ever seen a usb with big letters saying confidential on it. Thanks for the hint

It's been years since Jason Bourne disappeared from the radar, but now the most deadly former CIA agent has stepped out of the shadows. In a post-Snowden era that crumbles under heavy burdens and a seemingly never-ending financial crisis, Bourne travels from Athens to Las Vegas. Although he has his memory back, there are still questions to be answered.

This is the weakest of the Matt Damon Bourne films. Matt Damon still does well in the role even if he doesn't add much depth or complexity to his character this time around. Alicia Vikander is bland in this as she has been in every role I've seen her in. The biggest problem with the movie however is its story which is just average mediocre techno fluff that isn't even that important to the story.

While probably being my least favorite of the Damon Bourne films, Jason Bourne still manages to be a more than competent action thriller. Whilst it's good having Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass back in the franchise, and I have a soft spot for Alicia Vikander, but there was no point having this film. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible, but the plot to get him back involved is rather weak and the rest just seems very repetitive. Unfortunately it didn't add anything to the franchise, so whilst it's a good film, it's not a good Bourne film.

After several years underground, Bourne (Matt Damon) is drawn back into the spy world, driven to figure out who exactly killed his father - the tragedy which drove him to join Treadstone in the first place. The series reboots itself for the post-Snowden generation, but the story is routine and Paul Greenglass' camera and editing tricks seem at times more like affectations. Still, he can stage a good action sequence, and the climactic chase through Vegas is decidedly impressive.

Kind of a greatest hits compilation of the first Bourne trilogy, not unengaging by any means but a little "been there done that." (Funny that back in 2002 Bourne was supposed to be the fresh and different alternative to James Bond, but has remade essentially the same film much more closely and repetitively since then than Bond has.) Vegas car chase is pretty sweet. Tommy Lee Jones is a near-pefect addition in the government asshole role. Alicia Vikander's kinda-American accent is just bizarre.

Well made film with some fantastic action sequences. Not as good as 1/2/3 but better than Legacy. For a film titled Jason Bourne there were too many scenes that don't feature Jason Bourne. My main problem is that when it finished I had no desire to rush back in and watch the movie again like I had with Supremacy and Ultimatum. Worth watching but keep expectations reasonable. Also the storyline of the first third with Bourne and Nicky Parsons really reminded me of parts of 24: Live Another Day

Being more strict since the series used to be revolutionary in the action movie universe. Weak installment. It tries way too hard to do modern cool threats with the social media and privacy themes, and it just misses the mark so hard it's risible and distracting. Felt more like someone trying to copy Jason Bourne movies than an actual Jason Bourne movie. Giving him some random nemesis and some random father issue seemed just gimmicky and over done

A by-the-numbers and largely superfluous continuation of the franchise. It's not without a couple of tense sequences (the riot, the symposium), but the absence of any originality or creativity is apparent. The acting is bland and the impact of the action is largely minimized both by the merciless shaky cam and the lack of any depth to the story, as even the revelations about Bourne's past play second fiddle to the sketchy collage of predictable plot developments and standard action scenes.

Too much action is filmed in the dark, with the editing so impossibly clipped and close-up that this is almost like an art house version of an action flick. And such criticism of the action sequence cinemetography amounts to a fatal flaw for the movie at large, considering that the other elements of story have pretty much been worn threadbare by the preceding 3 Bourne movies. On the bright side, it is well acted, well cast, has the same great score, and a good blend of subplots.

Woeful, (hopefully) final chapter of the Bourne series feels filmed and conceived on bored auto-pilot; Jones (looking depressingly haggard) and Damon both appear miserable to be on-set, while Cassel does his level best to bring some spark to proceedings. This movie was totally absurd in every sense. I couldn't believe in its world or its characters and the script was pretty laughable. "Use SQL to corrupt their database!" indeed. Jason Bourne is a good action movie, especially if you've enjoyed its predecessors. This time round, the plot feels a little lighter, the action is a little more flashy (rather than gritty) and there were moments when I couldn't help but chuckle at how silly things had gotten.
