Jane by Charlotte

I have a very limited understanding of Winnicotian psychoanalysis (reading Wikipedia and conversing with djross) so I might be way off the mark here, but I think what Jane and Charlotte are intending to determine in making this film is whether they are and have been ‘good enough parents’ (more specifically good enough mothers). They do so by interrogating, to varying degrees of success, the status of their children (including Charlotte herself) as ‘true selves’ or ‘false selves’.
