A real simple and stripped down version of Jane Eyre. Not for artistic reasons, but since it's Monogram Pictures, a poverty row company, that makes the first sound version of this popular story. Therefore it was never going to be a very memorable movie. But understanding that it was going to be the most basic production I was happy that the acting at least wasn't embarrassing. Not world class either, but solid enough to keep the movie half-way floating.
