I like to think that, in the late '90s, mischievous video store employees switched the VHS tape of this movie with that of the 1998 Michael Keaton family movie of the same name.

There's some decent gore for a 90's horror. A kid gets decapitated by a sled in a moment that I regrettably admit to cheering. Shannon Elizabeth gets ready for sexy times by blow drying her hair for fifteen minutes BEFORE getting into the bath. That mindlessness rivals the peanut butter sucker from Knock Knock.

Shit. If you lack the budget to buy a snowmaking machine (also known as a "snow gun" or a "snow cannon" (thank you wikipedia)), don't choose a heat wave in August to begin filming your movie about a killer snowman terrorizing a northern town (called fucking Snomonton) in the dead of winter. Otherwise, Jack Frost is a moderately accurate depiction of what happens when experimental genetic ooze explodes in a serial killer's face.

Holy moly Ryan killed Billy! Loved the cop's nonstop flashback moments throughout. He'd flashback about the killer, then flashback to his son telling him he made that trailmix pack for him! A trained FBI agent shoots a puddle. Several times.

Notable for its stupid holographic cover that graced the shelves of every 2000s-era Blockbuster Video, right next to Shrooms and the blank space where Norbit used to be.

For years I only knew this movie for being the not Michael Keaton "Jack Frost", and for always playing with its cool "dual-vision" graphic VHS cover when at the store. Then later in life the internet introduced me to the now famous snowman rape scene. Finally I actually sat down and watched this chilling horror, and I was treated to exactly the kind of cheap tongue-in-cheek killer snowman B-movie I expected. Only for fans of low-rent horror-comedy and so-bad-it's-good movies.

Trash heap dialogue, gore, acting, and effects. Has a really frustrating scene where Shannon Elizabeth takes a shower and they carefully cover her nipples the whole time. You could say this film left me feeling COLD. *ba-dum bing*

A very low budget film about a serial killer who is in a terrible accident on his way to death row. He's turned into a killer snowman hell bent on destroying the police officer that brought him down. Cheesy horror movie filled with one liners from the villian and a group of townsfolk who seem a bit stupid at times. The deaths in themselves aren't all that bad and (save for a few of them) seem imaginative. Be warned, you may not like the movie if you don't like B-Movies.

One of those horror comedies where the "horror" is funnier than the "comedy."

In turns brilliant and poetic, an effective tale of one man pushed to the edge. Includes flourishes of humor and excellent special effects that truly made me fearful of snowmen...

Though technically a horror film, Jack Frost is one of the funniest and original low-budget, straight-to-video titles you will ever see. This is a movie that pulls no punches and mocks itself start to finish, making no bones about the fact that what you are watching is thoroughly ridiculous. A great showing by the filmmakers.

This is an extremely low budget movie. The special effects are really bad and unconvincing. The script s weak and the premise does not work. Overall this film is a mess.

It’s exactly what you would expected from this kind of movie with this kind of release. It’s not great or anything, but it’s so campy and intentionally funny that’s it’s just watchable enough. I honestly didn’t like the pacing though, and I swear it ended like three times. The bathroom scene wasn’t amusing at all. Those are things that actually bothered me. The lead in the title role was having a blast and I do think the lore and logic of Jack Frost was legitimately creative, as were the kills.

Clearly, only a movie for people who don't mind ignoring storytelling issues, bad production, and pretty shoddy special effects. "Jack Frost" is in a category where it's entertaining because of its shortcomings, and because it never tried to hide them, just to have a good time being bad.

The killer's name is Jack Frost. What did you expect before he turned into a snowman? This and "Uncle Sam" are two movies seared into my brain because of the cool holographic covers. I didn't see this until later in life, but I know I would have been disappointed that the snowman on the cover was not the snowman in the film. Shannon Elizabeth dries her hair for, like, 5 minutes, before full submerging herself in the bath.

Obviously a very low budget affair which would have required more money for more "believable" FX. Now it's surprisingly light on gore and more laughable than scary. It's very hard to make a successful horror comedy even with a proper budget and Jack Frost is mostly a bust, but at least the cast is OK and the film is rather well edited. I didn't feel bored for the duration, but it's not something that I would make a holiday tradition out of.

There are some viscerally effective kills, so it has that going for it, but I can't say there's much here I cared about.

Do not take this film seriously, it's ridiculously over the top with aweful one liners. Have some drinks, watch with friends, and have a damn good laugh.
