"The film is redeemed, finally, through the sheer, crazy belief in romance that Frank Borzage imbues in the film as it goes on." - Dan Callahan

The love story is wonderfully overcooked - they communicate over distance through sheer will - and the cinematography is incredible. Borzage's color choices are Vertigo-caliber.

Possibly the most Borzage movie to ever exist.

Ambitious for Republic Pictures! A Frank Borzage Production and direction. An alliance that was a clear sign Republic had grown into a serious contender during the war years. However, this was more style over context. Back and forth between Catherine McLeod sitting at the piano and rather passionless romance talk. Sophisticated touches, but underwhelming as a experience.

Tries to do what it can with a second-rate cast.
