It's Only Money

Uneven comedy with typically hit and miss jokes, but Tashlin directs with a real sense of pace and style, which papers over the cracks and distracts the viewer from the frequent breakdowns in humour. At the same time, it's easy to see why Lewis dominated the screen in the early 60's; his manic comic energy had no clear precedent, and his herky jerky movements could produce big laughs. It isn't among his best work, but the final chase sequence with automatic lawnmovers is inspired lunacy.
