Starts out a bit bland and most of the characters are rather shallow, but turns into quite a surprising and charming little piece about predestination shenanigans.

I'm a sucker for high concepts. They could have got more out of it but at least the film is very short. Keeping a movie around 90 minutes unless it absolutely needs to be longer is something the filmmakers of today would do well to learn.

Highly entertaining and enjoyable. Oakie in particular gives a bravura performance. Okay, so maybe some of the characters' actions are a bit inconsistent (Darnell falling so quickly for Powell, for example)...but this was after all drawn from the memoirs of an old and happily married man, which should perhaps excuse the rose-colored glasses. ;)

it's a comedy at times silly, but it keeps one tuned from the clever tricks it uses to tie the prediction up together. Some action still, and it does well in the future-reading genre, actually, compared to many modern movies and tv shows

A very silly yet quite agreeable comedy involving a newsman who gets tomorrows newspaper--and acts accordingly. Linda Darnell is utterly charming, and Dick Powell tries to look less youthful by sporting a mustache. Jack Oakie is...Jack Oakie. There's a bit too much slapstick for my taste (my threshold is admittedly quite low) and no really great moments, but it's a pleasant diversion--made even more pleasant by the score, by the famous composer of Viennese operetta, Robert Stolz.

Touches of brilliance here. Not all the time, but it definitely felt like a René Clair mood.

Certainly charming enough, but hasn't aged as well as others. A pleasing escapist romp with some lovingly used character acting.

Dated, but still holds some meaning in it's message.

a fairly standard flick that keeps the amusement dialed up the entire duration. it's one of those movies that's affect is worn off after a short duration, but during the movie you're completely enthralled. it's been about a week now and in shallow recollection i thought it was pretty lukewarm, but on further thought it seems as almost a hidden gem.
