the photography and sound design has a bit of 70s-itis, and the plot is pretty convoluted, but it's definitely got a unique and strangely compelling atmosphere, as well as some interesting commentary on a lot of topics from shamanism to gender to capitalist exploitation. not entirely successful, but pretty unforgettable.

The strange world it creates is fascinating as it goes so completely against what we are used to seeing and its less realistic moments feel deliriously knowing in their slightly camp edge. I enjoyed it. Comparisons can be made to The Wickerman.
