Invisible Stripes

To be honest the first half looked bleak for Invisible Stripes (1939) with weak crime melodrama and young William Holden coming across like total dope. It wasn't until the second half it turns violently criminal with the dangerous gang of George Raft, Humphrey Bogart & Paul Kelly going on a rampage. And this was pretty great with police machine guns blasting the city leaving bullet holes everywhere! So don't lose hope with this too early for it turns great in the end!

Gloomy crime melodrama. Cast is very good, but for some reason film is dull and unremarkable. To think of it, even Bogart seems a bit stiff in this film. Interesting how these crime films of that time brings mixed morality. On one hand idea is that crime doesn't pay, on the other - robbing banks is justifiable if it's to help out your brother.
