It's stupid and boring then turns into a disgusting nightmare. The meat slicer is VICIOUS, I'll probably suck in a whole bunch of air in a fat panic watching the deli guy slice me up some corned beef next time.

Slow to get going, this movie features some truly sick gore and creative, fun kills. 80's slashers don't come much better.

It's a very progressive movie. Starts off pretty underwhelming, then gets better and better. Fun kills. It's not a surprise to see that Tarantino took some inspiration from this. But Spielberg? There's a sequence in here that's shot pretty much exactly like a pretty iconic one in Jurassic Park. I did not see myself actually, genuinely liking this movie. Not after the first 30 minutes. Dan Hicks gives one of the best, funnest movie bad guy villain slasher whatever performances I've ever seen.

A campy slasher that knows exactly what it is & mostly balances the tone pretty well, it's a good time right up until the inexcusably awful ending that almost ruins the whole thing. Decent performances by the cast, which includes both Raimi brothers, along with some brutal gore & fun, creative kills make up for the reckless use of logic & the pretty bland characters. The twist is predictable, though, & the ending is seriously godawful. Still, it's a fun slasher that's worth checking out.

Though some of the kills were on the nasty side for a tender little squirm-bug like myself, it had some really cool visually ingenious moments (match cuts, the final zoom, etc.). The ending is pretty wicked as well. However, it's off to a very bumpy start, and the cast (particularly the killer post-reveal) is not good.

A stripped down slasher with gory kills punctuating the tension, or tedium depending on your perspective. It has its moments, and I love that ending, but mostly its not very memorable.

This is probably a very good genre piece, but I'm not much of a gore fan.

Solid 80s slasher about a killer invading a supermarket at closing time. Intruder has enough solid kills and special effects to keep the rather bland story going. Cameos from Sam Raimi, Ted Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Laurence Bender keep things interesting. Worth a watch if you enjoy cheesy horror flicks.

I need a little bit more and it’s a little too aware of everything in a way I find annoying but what brutal kills

Slow and pretty bad really. Some fun moments but they are not enough to keep the movie afloat

Glad to have finally seen this above average 80s horror. Extra points for the unusual setting (grocery store after closing) and some creative camera work.

Has possibly the single best practical special effect I've seen in a slasher film, and the camerawork & villain were great. On the other hand it failed to create a memorable atmosphere and took too long to get going to be considered a real classic.

Considering that the film takes place in a supermarket, it's about as good as one can hope. It's competently directed and has some very nice shots that reminded me of "From Dusk Till Dawn 2" even before I saw that it was from the same director; and with this earlier film he doesn't overdo it. It gets quite gory and has some brutal scenes towards the end. My biggest gripes were that the characters are merely cannon fodder and the ending goes on for too long. Still, a gem of a late 80's slasher.

surprisingly not awful for the genre's standards (still a bad film ofc), but that ending was absolute bullshit. It should've been shorter too tbh.

Maybe I've worked in retail too long but I liked this one. However the ending is kind of a mixed bag.

This was an incredibly fun watch full of gore and crazy camera angles. The store is basic but put to good use, the location is great and works well, the characters are stereotypes but they are fun and not annoying. The film picks up steam as it goes and while the main twist can be seen a mile away the smaller twist was pretty damn refreshing. Great way the end the film.

A fun slasher that is set in a great environment. There are some interesting shots that feel Raimi-esque Yep, that's all there is.

The killings are graphic and quite nasty for 1989, but otherwise it's a crappy slasher with a predictable twist. The most interesting thing about it is it's made by a guy who acted in Sam Raimi stuff, and both Raimi brothers act in this. Some shots have that wacky Raimi style about them so I'm sure Sam gave this guy pointers. Also, a tiny Bruce Campbell cameo.

A generic slasher movie. The gore is decent, but the movie is too slow and takes way too long to get going.

I appreciate that this movie is at least TRYING to stand apart from the formulaic 80s horror fare. Between the dark humor, the crafty camerawork, the single setting and the delicious gore, it's a largely successful attempt at a mold-breaking slasher. With that said, it can be pretty clunky at times in terms of acting, pacing, writing and editing (admittedly important areas). But it succeeds more than it fails, and for that I give it major props.

Has the kind of gore you expect from Fulci, but its a little slow and I was wishing it would end about 15 minutes before it did.

A pretty straight forward flick from the slasher genre, but included some pretty interesting shots (the one from inside the rotary phone, for example). What I did really like about this movie was what happened in the very end, which I thought was an nudge and wink to the audience, slightly poking fun at the genre itself.

Routinely plotted but energetically directed slasher. Likable characters, interesting camera placement, and a carload of cameos ("Green Acres" fans take note), but Paramount cut the violence heavily to ensure an R, robbing this film of most of its spectacular KNB FX work.
