Inside Out 2

One of those rare occasions where a sequel takes the premise and elevates it. The story felt more natural as if it was more focused on putting Riley in a situation where emotions were inescapable. While the first one was great this one delt more with the changes of life. There was one particular scene near the end that truly highlights everything a person can feel and it was so well depicted. Very well made movie.

Follows a similar theme of how suppression doesn't lead to healthy development. It's got very creative ideas about the workings of the inner mind, this one obviously more focused on being a teen and fitting in among friends. I had one small quibble about the unanswered 'Riley's dark secret' that was answered at the end of credits, so stay for that. Liked the new emotional forces in this one for the most part. Best Disney/Pixar film to come out in many years.

"Inside Out" may be Pixar's masterpiece, and those are rarely matched. Indeed "Inside Out 2" follows the original's structure a little too closely, but it's nonetheless the rare sequel that's almost as resonant as the first installment.

"Inside Out 2" introduces new emotions during Riley’s adolescence, blending compelling internal and external plots. Strong voice acting, especially from Lewis Black and Amy Poehler, enhances the characters. Interior dialogue in Act 3 shines, and the film’s message about self-discovery is poignant. With solid pacing, creative production, and significant emotional impact, it’s a highly rewatchable sequel that offers depth and relatability.

Does absolutely nothing new or interesting. The theme of "don't let anxiety run everything" doesn't need to be explored, and the through-line that Joy shouldn't be suppressing things doesn't feel like it was properly developed.

Can't wait for lust and depression to appear in the next one

I thought the general chemistry between characters was lesser than the first since there was no real conflict between the main leads and the newer characters have far less personality than the originals. But I do think it still manages to be creative with how it conveys how human thinking works and I generally think the core message of how we understand our emotions is a lot stronger than the first. ngl, watching through this all I could think of "what would Horny look like in this movie?"

It may not be as good as the first one, but it's still a fine film. I just love the concept and the new emotion additions just work.

It's like Inside Out but less clever or fun. Bay Area High School's Girl's Hockey team is unbelievably good.

Pixar's best outing in some time. Inside Out 2 retains all the charm and emotional weight of the first, while cleverly introducing some more mature themes in a wonderfully allegorical way. The characters are very endearing, and the metaphors are palpable.

Improves on the first film; turbulent puberty makes for a more interesting premise, and we see more of the other characters this time.

Did anyone really want/ask for an animated children’s film on puberty?

A brilliant sequel that expands Riley's interior world with amazing new characters and many clever gags. Most importantly, however, Mann and her screenwriters manage to keep Riley's tricky circumstances and the way her mind navigates the pitfalls on its journey towards emotional maturity both meaningful and often exhilarating.

Wasn't as well done or impactful as the original. A solid time, but just kinda ehhh

Pretty well-done in depicting all the changing emotions and maturation of becoming a teenager, even if a little over-exaggerated at times, and sometimes feeling a little bit rehashed from the first one.

Hits so many right notes. Great story and beautiful animation. The negatives were I wanted more of some of the side emotions.

Follows the TOY STORY sequel blueprint: reduce the playful world-building, turn up the existential angst. It doesn’t quite make the most of all its new emotions, but it’s a very effective essay on anxiety.

I didn't think it felt quite as smart as the first movie, and it felt like they basically redid some aspects of the first by calling them something different, even though they basically had the same effect on the story and characters. That being said, there are still some great moments here, especially towards the end, that take this from being a just okay movie to being something I definitely will rewatch.

Probably my second favorite Pixar film (the first film being my favorite).

This movie takes the coming of age drama to a more explicitly teenage setting, and has the brain deal with even more chaos than before. And it retains the charm of the original. The humor, the emotion, and the overall allegory going on inside her mind for what’s happening. It’s not as good as the first one, but it comes closer than most sequels do.

While not as strong as the first one, definitely a fun time, especially the part within Riley's mind.

It’s a smart, brisk and entertaining sequel. Its rather brief runtime and fairly quick pacing is one of its most notable strengths but also gives it the feeling of being considerably less meaty and substantial compared to the first film. As a result it kind of feels like an appendix to the original at times rather than a fully rounded sequel. Nevertheless, this is imaginative, well voiced and nicely animated. Solid, if not classic Pixar.

I laughed throughout, enjoyed the presence of these characters, and found things to emotionally engage with. It does, however, play real loosey-goosey with its world-building and internal logic; its 2015 predecessor isn't totally seamless in its own merging of psychology and candy-coated invention, but it seemed more thoughtfully considered than here.

A really well written and interestingly thought out movie. While it's not as intricate or poignant as the first one (which, not many movies are), it manages to convey its ideas and concepts so graciously. The new characters are stellar (Anxiety and Envy are top tier Pixar characters from now on). Overall, this was a very good, very entertaining watch. Not one of Pixar's finest, but still great.
