What an excellent sequel! I love that these Inside Out movies are clever enough for adults to enjoy but funny and clever enough for just about all ages. I love the lore and worldbuilding too. It’s so fun (and punny) and just so clever. I cannot think of a better demonstration for kids (and even adults) of the human psyche and condition. The message should resonate with all ages too. Very important viewing. Also just gorgeously animated and wonderfully acted. One of Pixar’s best sequels.

One of those rare occasions where a sequel takes the premise and elevates it. The story felt more natural as if it was more focused on putting Riley in a situation where emotions were inescapable. While the first one was great this one delt more with the changes of life. There was one particular scene near the end that truly highlights everything a person can feel and it was so well depicted. Very well made movie.

Absolutely brutal in it's depiction of puberty to the point where i found myself grabbing a blanket to hide under several times, but while this is the first Pixar to make me cry in a while, it's not quite the roaring success I was hoping for.

Inside Out 2 is a better Pixar offering giving their recent string of films. The animation is great. The story may be a bit more stereotypical, but is more contained or smaller scale, especially compared to the first film. The anthropomorphism of an anxiety attack was done well. The 2 or 3 emotional moments land perfectly, though most of that heavy-lifting was done by Datzman's score (or Giacchino's original themes). The voice acting is good, but Poehler & Hawke do get a little grating.

Absolutely great. I loved how they personified Anxiety, I think it was very well done. I wish the other new emotions had more dialogue though, they didn’t fell that developed. On the other hand, Anger, Fear and Disgust got more interesting participations compared to the last movie, which is greatly appreciated. Joy, as always, was the best character with the most touching moments.

Does absolutely nothing new or interesting. The theme of "don't let anxiety run everything" doesn't need to be explored, and the through-line that Joy shouldn't be suppressing things doesn't feel like it was properly developed.

"Inside Out" may be Pixar's masterpiece, and those are rarely matched. Indeed "Inside Out 2" follows the original's structure a little too closely, while also changing things that perhaps didn't need changed, but it's nonetheless the rare sequel that's almost as resonant as the first installment.

Follows a similar theme of how suppression doesn't lead to healthy development. It's got very creative ideas about the workings of the inner mind, this one obviously more focused on being a teen and fitting in among friends. I had one small quibble about the unanswered 'Riley's dark secret' that was answered at the end of credits, so stay for that. Liked the new emotional forces in this one for the most part. Best Disney/Pixar film to come out in many years.

Follows the TOY STORY sequel blueprint: reduce the playful world-building, turn up the existential angst. It doesn’t quite make the most of all its new emotions, but it’s a very effective essay on anxiety.

Everything about it is good, and it does expand on the original, but it can't help but feel a little smaller even though it explores new situations and feelings. All the characters are fun to watch, especially when they interact! I highly recommend it! Just feels like a side-story instead of its own movie.

Sequels, especially animated ones, more often than not only exist because the producers wanted to milk more cash out of an idea. This one, on the other hand, has a totally justifiable reason for existing. If you liked the first one, you'll like this as well.

What a treat of a movie. Inside Out 2 is a film that builds on the themes begun in the first film and grows and matures them, just as the lead character Riley has grown and matured from the first film. At the start of the film, I was certain this would be one of those pleasant Pixar sequels that is still fun, but a little superfluous, but in the middle, as new emotion Anxiety began to take over, something switched and there's a scene near the end that hit the biggest emotional chord with me.

Didn’t think the first was the masterpiece some did but it was better than this. This sequel shows promise early on but moves from being honest and observational to feeling more preachy as the plot progresses. The ice hockey setup isn’t very relatable, the adventure with the emotions just seems a bit lazy and random, it’s lacking the wit of the original, and the animation is only so-so. Bit of a harsh rating perhaps, but I was falling asleep on the sofa for most of it so there you go.

Surprised to experience an animation make such a deep connection to the audience. It keeps its youthful taste while presenting an accurate picture of what the human psyche looks like that resonates with adults too. The ending was rushed and thus not quite realistic. Would’ve given it a higher score If it wasn’t for that.

The original movie was funnier but this movie has more substance to it. We saw the same thing happen with the Toy Story series. As the kids who watched the movie grow up so does the story. I enjoyed the addition of the new emotions they are more complex but the original emotions are really the stars of the show still. I will definitely be watching it again and I'm sure I'll pick up on things that I enjoy about the movie on further viewings. It's easy to see why this is the new Pixar flagship.

It was fun and emotionally rewarding to get back in the head of young Riley, with the imaginative and fairly clever internal antics just as amusing (and wonderfully animated) to watch as in the first movie. Yet, unlike the first movie, this didn't make me laugh as much, and seemed uncaring of how to place its jokes amongst the story. I also found its messages confusing, given Anxiety is considered a bitch, yet nothing is said of how Anxiety does improve Riley's sporting prowess.

The psychological explantation is strong and sound. It also works on so many levels that adults can learn much from it as well. The story is ok but more of a device to display the deep work done on the metaphoric side. The anxiety attack was 100/100. I also thought it might be too complex for kids.

I wouldn't rank it among Pixar's worst films -- although I suspect it would end up near the bottom --, but it's certainly one of their laziest. Just doesn't do anything different from the first with the exception of presenting those same old stuff about teenhood. Also, all that talk about emotional intelligence... So lame. Plot is basically an elevated self-help Instagram/TikTok post version of itself. This film's success is also result of social media memes, so it makes huge sense.

While this did not completely wreck me like its predecessor, it's a miracle that its still got me pretty choked up. The fact that it's messier than the original also feels baked in to the subject matter, and everything feels beautifully human again, and I was unexpectedly invested in checking in with Riley again, seeing her grow and make mistakes and become a more complicated person.

Even better than the already great first film, it brings new characters and concepts to the table, paired with the typically excellent animation and voice work and an abundance of laugh-out-loud humour, action and emotional depth as well as a relatable, moving character arc. Certainly not tailor-made for young kids, it will appeal more to people who have experienced adolescence, and especially those in need of a heartwarming, loving look at the struggles of growing up, belonging and anxieties.

Cute and adorable, very positive, but I have two major complaints. One, I enjoyed the first movie due to its lack of a villain, but this one is about opposition rather than cooperation for most of the movie, which is a strange message given the overall context. And two, when Riley sneaks around at night, it's clearly a bad thing, but she never faces any consequences. I'm not sure what the lesson is here for younger viewers. Do bad shit and it's ok? Cute movie nonetheless, enjoyable.

At once both a comedy and a horror film. As a former teen and now a father of a few, I can laugh along knowingly with some of the keen observations about growing up as a teen girl in this day and age, while at the same time grimace at the occasionally brilliant hellscape that is teenaged decision-making.

I prefer Inside Out 1 better, but this is also really good. Aside from mental health stuff, I like the hockey scenes. Riley really went egoist on them ☠️ IS THAT A BLLK REFERENCE?? Anyway, I really like how they also asked for professionals/psychologists' help in depicting mental health issues. I'm sure many kids felt supported due to this movie.

Enjoyable to watch once, but I don't feel the need to watch it again as an adult without children. Well executed and builds on the first in a meaningful way. Much like the first, explains emotions in a way that helps kids (and adults) understand. The best message in the film is probably the importance of forgiveness and fighting perfectionism to be a well developed person and good friend.

I thought the general chemistry between characters was lesser than the first since there was no real conflict between the main leads and the newer characters have far less personality than the originals. But I do think it still manages to be creative with how it conveys how human thinking works and I generally think the core message of how we understand our emotions is a lot stronger than the first. ngl, watching through this all I could think of "what would Horny look like in this movie?"

I didn't think it felt quite as smart as the first movie, and it felt like they basically redid some aspects of the first by calling them something different, even though they basically had the same effect on the story and characters. This movie takes the coming of age drama to a more explicitly teenage setting, and has the brain deal with even more chaos than before. And it retains the charm of the original. It’s a smart, brisk and entertaining sequel. Its rather brief runtime and fairly quick pacing is one of its most notable strengths but also gives it the feeling of being considerably less meaty and substantial compared to the first film. As a result it kind of feels like an appendix to the original at times rather than a fully rounded sequel. Nevertheless, this is imaginative, well voiced and nicely animated. Solid, if not classic Pixar.

I laughed throughout, enjoyed the presence of these characters, and found things to emotionally engage with. It does, however, play real loosey-goosey with its world-building and internal logic; its 2015 predecessor isn't totally seamless in its own merging of psychology and candy-coated invention, but it seemed more thoughtfully considered than here.

A really well written and interestingly thought out movie. While it's not as intricate or poignant as the first one (which, not many movies are), it manages to convey its ideas and concepts so graciously. The new characters are stellar (Anxiety and Envy are top tier Pixar characters from now on). Overall, this was a very good, very entertaining watch. Not one of Pixar's finest, but still great.
