Infernal Affairs III

Didn't particularly care for this.. It's a pretty unnecessary follow-up to the first two, which were great and intense. Doesn't have the drive or impact of the first two, and the story generally feels.. out of place. It's quite dull, really. Not a bad film, but I would recommend giving it a miss unless you REALLY liked the first two.

How many flashbacks/flashforwards can you fit in one movie? Not this many. I thought it was slightly more engaging than the second film, but it got way too caught up in trying to be slick.

The plot was confusing with way too many flashbacks and dream/delusion sequences.

I was lost after half an hour. To much flash forwards, flash backs, I didn't care any more.

Weakest of the three as a single movie, but I loved the way it concludes the trilogy, and especially how it fill in some blanks from the first movie. Some plot points are subtle enough to be lost in translation, so if you feel as confused about what happened as I was, head on to imdb forums, there is a good post explaining what exactly happened.

This film probably has the most confusing series of flashbacks and the psychological angle doesn't work too well in the end. The directors probably should have spent more time refining certain elements of the plot. What makes this shine however is that it continues the great cinematography and the acting that we do see is still very solid even if the screenplay isn't. You can take it as a vignette of great scenes that just don't tie together seamlessly.

Not breathtaking as the first two ones.. but it's still a perfect ending for the trilogy.

Very well linked to I A I and II

on the plus side, all the performances are top notch. on the minus, nothing makes sense and the film goes into flashback overload. would love to see a fanedit of all 3 films putting everything in chronological order. or maybe a fanedit of this film alone that didn't trip off the rails.

The 3rd installment of the series definitely takes more measures to fulfill the stated spiritual theme of continuous hell than its predecessors. Two parallel stories, past and present, many of the same characters, flashbacks, dreams, and delusions. Mostly it's handled well, though I found some of the therapy scenes tiresome. I didn't find Yeung as compelling a villain as Hau from the 2nd film. Sam doesn't get enough menacing screen time. All-in-all, though, a very fitting end to the trilogy.

The weakest link in the trilogy but still better than most stuff out of Hollywood these days.
