Incident in a Ghost Land

Well executed french style horror film with a nice twist but not terrifyingly original. It ain't no 'Martyrs' but it makes for a fun evening.

Interesting twist on the home-invasion thriller that struggles to do anything more beyond that twist. Laugier's sense of violence and pacing still carries it for all 80-odd minutes of what maybe should have been a short, but Martyrs it ain't.

Properly terrifying at times, and with an interesting twist, it's nevertheless sometimes crass and I have issues with the trans villain. Not that trans characters cannot be villains. But here, the character has zero development, so the fact that she's trans is used purely for shock value. At the very least, it's exploitative, if not downright transphobic. French superstar Mylène Farmer is a supporting actress. Her performance is not especially strong

The scenes where they leave the house and they’re aiming for some like fairy tale arc is not bad but it’s just too much for me in a lot of areas and lacks any real visual flair

This dude loves to make movies where women get the shit beat out of them. Pretty brutal, but still lacks a strong sense of direction. Kind of looks like a Criminal Minds episode at times.

A few too many jump scares, and it drags in places, but for the most part this is well directed and tense enough to hold its own. It’s not as unforgiving as Funny Games or Eden Lake, but is similar in terms of tone and brutality.

Twisting and turning this movie keeps on giving all throughout. Creepy, scary and mind bending. Love it.

Looks amazing, sounds great and is very straight to the point. There's no shortage of twists and turns, always keeping you on your toes. Acting, editing, pacing, direction, score, production design, cinematography...everything's just so fucking energetic and full of life. It's so much fun and overall just a great ride. Unequivocal recommendation.

I would love this if I had not played outlast...

A boring movie with a wasted Pshycological Horror/Thriller plot.

I didn't expected a full on ride through crazy town. A tale of horrific nightmares and mental escape. Not being a horror fan, I was ready to bale early, but the mood shifts dramatically, followed by several more nice twisty turns. Original and worth watching, but you might need a bit of patience to endure the scream track and get to what's actually happening.

okay movie
