dark, bleak and twisty thriller that borders on implausible but is redeemed but steady direction, beautiful cinematography and superlative acting (particularly from Jodie Rimmer and newcomer Emily Barclay)

Character driven mystery that slowly and deliberately unveils it's secrets. The friendship between Paul and Celia is enjoyable with Barclay especially noteworthy. Reassembling and swallowing the plot takes some work due to the overly convoluted flashbacks, but the solid character portrayals make it worthwhile.

Atmospheric Thriller? yeah and "The Tree of Life" is a Horror movie subgenre Slasher. Apart from that the first hour it is just a drama about a comeback and the second one the more Mysterious one, no Thriller, just Mystery.

Wonderful use of analepses. It does teeter on the outer edge of plausibility towards the end, but mostly it's believable realism with really strong performances.

REALLY well made! The scenography, script, acting.... When I "only" give it 85, it's because it is rather dysphoric, which does that I didnt *enjoy* it more than 85, but it is a masterpiece. It's true what others say that it is not a "suspence/thriller" as said in the description, but mystery/drama.

Not much to nitpick about this one, really enjoyed it. Sad it doesn't get the attention & recognition it deserves

Top badass moment? Not sure really. I guess I'll go for Paul Prior telling a few home truths about Celia's brother, only to be beaten up and thrown out of the house by him. Standing up to bullies even thought it means you're probably going to get the crap kicked out of you is badass, stupid yes, but badass. 1 cat and 0 decapitations. (It's only a cat walk-on part though; well it's strictly a carry on part really.)

Nope. Enjoyed the soundtrack, though. And props for the actress playing Celia getting top billing in the credits.
