Watched this movie as there was not many choices in local cinema. Fleder's "Don't Say a Word" was mediocre thriller and as this is sci-fi genre, i didnt expect much. The camera work was good but the screenplay limped badly.

Seriously under-rated Sci-fi film which adds several other genres into it. Based on a Philip K Dick short story it has a lot of his style of storytelling throughout. The effects are great for the time, and the action is used wisely and well done. All in all pretty amazing for a mid range 30mil budget.

So good I forgot that I had seen it 10 years ago, and rented it again thinking, "this sounds like a great movie! How could I have not seen this?" Yeah.

Impostor got bashed by critics for having bizarre cut always, too many slow motion scenes, and generally weird and herky-jerky cinematography decisions. Additionally, others criticize it due to originally being a 30-40 minute short that got extended into a full-length movie. While all true, I truly like both the story (basically the Fugitive, done in a near future setting) and the acting, especially by Gary Sinise and Madeleine Stowe.

Solid enough sci-fi thriller, but if you've seen any other Philip K Dick-based movie (Blade Runner or Minority Report) then you've already seen this. Gary Sinise is always underrated and he does the best he can with the lead role. The plot plods along steadily and the action is competent but there's really no surprises in store here. Even the final 'twist' is so obvious it can be seen from sapce.

PKD's novel is way better, and this is in the bottom of the pack of the onward growing repertoire of PKD stories made into movies!

The original concept here - as the DVD extras revealed - was to adapt three Philip K Dick stories into short films and release all three as a single feature. The original short version, included on the DVD, is a much tighter story and shows where the script was simply padded to make it longer. In fact I think everything added to the feature-length version just makes it worse. If you are a fan of PKD adaptations, just watch the short film - it's closer to his short story anyway.

Contains 40% Minority Report, 30% Total Recall, 15% Sixth Day, 8% Dark City, 5% Gattaca leaving a sum total of 2% actual original storytelling.

Low budget, but it has classic Dickian themes.

The story (after Philip K. Dick) alone makes this worth watching. Acting (mainly by Sinise) is good. D'Onofrio fits the role of the detective. There is enough suspense and sci-fi ambiance. I haven't read Impostor but I have read a couple of Dick novels and have watched a couple of adaptations, including Blade Runner, and there was nothing in this that pissed me off. I enjoyed it in a way similar to reading a Dick story. Sort of a minor Minority Report with an almost TV movie feel.

I like the story and as with all Philip Dick, just read it instead. The short version of the movie (30 minutes or so) on the DVD is more or less sufficient.

A surprisingly good movie, with a lot of suspense, here in brazil it had little repercussion, but recommended to all sci-fi fans.

Apparently this was a good movie at some point, but it got stuck in development hell for some time and turned out sub-mediocre. Bleh.
