Radio comedian Joe Penner, of "You Naaassty Man!" fame, was very much an acquired taste in 1938, and even more so when seen today. Nevertheless, such Penner movie vehicles as I'm From the City never failed to make a tidy profit for RKO Radio Pictures. In this one, the star plays a circus bareback rider who happens to be deathly afraid of horses. Joe Penner was quite a character. He just didn't get to make that many moves, and most of them have been hard to track down. Here is I'm from the City (1938), where he plays a circus horse rider who is scared of horses. He just needs to be hypnotized. Thus a ranch wants him to ride for them. As you already understand, don't go in expecting a coherent story. Enjoy it for the random nonsense that's going on, because it's filled with that.
