All of Almodovar's movies appear to be comedies in some way or another but I'M SO EXCITED appears to be his first 100%-comedy-nothing-but-jokes-here-movie, and while a lot of you seem to hate it, I found its nonsense and crudeness very funny. It's also unabashedly homoerotic, which is done to a very amusing effect. This is Almodovar bending over and winking at the audience.

I'm all for farce and lightness, and Almodovar has a special touch for that kind of thing. But this film unfortunately fails to get there. The crucial flaw here is that it's just not funny enough to justify how slight and scattered it is. It's amusing and colourful and all, and sometimes touches on the hypersexuality that Almodovar can have so much fun with, but it never pushes anything far enough to really make the whole experience worth it.

Silly and ridiculous, yes, but it rather won me over with its bawdy farce and pointed bickering.

I was really drunk and so were all the characters.

Purposely cheesy, with a decent amount of laughs and Almodóvar's typical hyper-sexuality, but this time without anything in the way of subtext or analysis. It just exists to entertain, in which it doesn't fail nor is it an overwhelming success. The funnies character is probably the extremely serious faced, but completely flamboyant Ulloa.

An amusing (though rarely laugh-out-loud funny) and self-consciously silly farce from Almodóvar -one that adds nothing substantial to his celebrated filmography but definitely could serve as a decent relaxation alternative on a summer night.

My first Almodóvar, I understood going in it was going to be a very light comedy - and I suppose it didn't disappoint on that front. It IS very very light - there's lots of smart and funny dialogue, but none of it is really laugh out loud. It's quite camp, and there's a great sense of fun throughout, but it all feels a little shallow. I also found it rather similar to the Foo Fighter's Learn to Fly video, which is unfortunately funnier on first watch. Brilliant colour palette.

An irreverent, colorful, original, place-based, stupidly funny sex comedy.

Almodóvar makes an old school sex comedy. A genre that always been very hit-or-miss and this is too uneven to work as a successful reappraisal of the genre. Contrary to his dark comedies of previous decades this is much lighter in tone. For those who need a movie to be more than pure entertainment there is also a little dash of satire thrown in. There are some fun moments. But it falters too much, because the characters are not captivating enough.

The design of this film was gorgeous. The set designers and the director had a lot of fun when it came to putting everything together for this film. The plot takes a backseat in some ways. I enjoyed most of it. The madcap adventure has twists and turns but is told in a very zany way. In some ways the movie played out like a soap opera, which isn't bad but I just don't have the required knowledge to enjoy that genre fully. The gender fluidity was very refreshing. I could watch it again.

Unmistakably Almodóvar--his eye for color and composition is extraordinary and unique--but with none of his biting and real outrageousness. Watchable, amusing enough, but about the least worthwhile flick of his I can think of.

A very camp and mostly very cute comedy but only a couple of good laughs. Could easily have been improved by -for one- having fewer rapes.

Just the worst I have seen from Almodovar. Not a single character you care about, very little in the way of entertainment, just cartoons drinking and making gay jokes. Can't believe he would make a film with so little depth, or did I miss something?

"Los Amantes Pasajeros" takes us back to Almodóvar's early days after the sci-fi thrill that was "La Piel Que Habito". The actors are extremely well-picked and the characters they portray instantly likeable, while the actual "I'm So Excited!" scene is achingly funny. All in all, it's a memorable if unremarkable laugh-fest that feels a lot like a relaxation for the writer/ director after his more serious previous effort.

While a possible disaster is about to crash this plane flying in circles packed with a bunch of crazy people, Spain's crisis remains -- corruption, scandals and so on. Interesting premise wasted in an incredibly silly and ultimately annoying satire -- what is that subplot involving that old actor, his former lover and his current (and about to commit suicide) girl? is this even a subplot, actually? -- , with characters that manage to be horny, desperate but trapped in routines of overacting.

Pedro Almodovar's answer to AIRPLANE!, about a trio of gay flight attendants, a malfunctioning plane, and the madness that ensues in first class. Sex, drugs, and alcohol--and a musical number--are all part of the mix. Almodovar's script is solid; I think it has potential as a stage work. The film, though, never QUITE catches fire, either because something was lost in the translation or because the direction is a little lacking in flair. Still, a game cast makes it a pleasant-enough diversion.

Possibly Almodovar's lightest, silliest work, but mostly in a good way that feels like a throwback to his wackier '80s movies (which are my favorite of his anyway). Also, best musical sequence since The Wayward Cloud.

There's a good ten minutes of quite amusing stuff in here. It's a damn shame that they decided to drag it out for an hour and a half.
