Opera diva Grace Moore plays (what a stretch!) an opera diva in I'll Take Romance. Moore reneges on an agreement to open the opera season in Buenos Aires, opting instead for a better-paying job in Paris. Melvyn Douglas, acting on behalf of the Buenos Aires company, pretends to fall in love with Moore in order to win her back--but soon discovers to his surprise that he's not pretending at all. Ms. Moore sings selections from Manon Lescaut, Madama Butterfly and La Traviata. (allmovie.com)

A silly romance vehicle for novelty actress Grace Moore. They had her singing folksy songs with her powerful voice to show that's she's a 'regular fellow', as they called it in those days, and not a opera snob. I'll Take Romance (1937) is a very light comedy with random songs and the stupid plot of Melvyn Douglas trying to kidnap this lady he's fallen for. Is sweet in it's silly mess, and does alright to entertain, but it's all a fairly forgettable creation.
