I always love a Ronald Colman movie. Here as a man in rags in 1463 France during the reign of King Louis XI. The King is none other then Basil Rathbone, in a very different role then we're used to seeing him! Here we see his theater background playing a very animated character with an intoxicating witches laugh! As great as Colman was, this movie would not have been as enjoyable had it not been for Rathbone the eccentric king!

Entertaining costumer with Colman very romantic as Villon and Rathbone as the Spider KIng. Rathbone's performance features a memorably creepy falsetto chuckle.
