If Anything Happens I Love You

Touching small story about losing a child and coping with the relationship that's left behind. Well done.

Absolutely devastating. If Anything Happens I Love You is an astounding piece of animation that packs more into its short runtime than almost any other short that I have seen. I appreciated how its approach to gun violence deals squarely with the aftermath and depicts full-on how grief in such a sudden, quick situation can wreck people and relationships even though the loss is no fault of their own.

There's an interesting angle about the anxieties of parenthood being made a reality but there's like... not much beef to any of this. The big twist they pull kinda comes off as cheap attempts to get an emotional reaction and while I wouldn't call it glaringly obnoxious I do find this pretty flaccid.

Genuinley tear-inducing. Any parent's worst nightmare.

There isn't much to say here. An effective, beautifully put together tribute to the ways that loss can tear us apart but also bring us closer together. Not a single second is wasted across the 12 minute runtime, & it definitely makes you feel for this fictional family that could quite honestly be anyone, anywhere, at any time. Especially in the awful modern climate we're living in. Worth your time.

Really touching and way too relevant. Reminds me a lot of Pixar shorts, which is always a good sign.

Well done and emotional short film. Yet it doesn't really bring much new to the table. But maybe that is enough.

This is the first film to make me cry in years. Emotion doesn't necessarily make a movie goo, but this film has a lot to offer. With no dialogue and simplistic yet effective art, this short film makes you feel everything you try to escape from in movies. I loved this so much, and it forever holds a place in my heart.

This is porn. It wants nothing but to be sad. And while that is ok for any living thing, I reject that as a piece of art this aspires to be.

I guess it was around 2013 that filmmakers really started to get a hardon for the idea of parents with a dead kid. Apparently the thrill hasn't died yet. There is no more hackneyed way of trying to seem "meaningful". Tying it to a "social issue" just doubles the sense of false wisdom.
