Scoffs at story and a sense of direction which is its flaw and yet why its not all bad. Its fun at times but there are some moments you would rather forget. An improvement over the second but in the end its a bunch of fluffy creatures jumping around the screen for 90 minutes. Buck is the new best thing that Ice Age has to offer on that note.

There's a lot to like about the Ice Age series, from that intial "Odd Couple" concept to the fantastic visual style and interesting character design. However after more turns of events and increasing numbers of new faces in the disfunctional herd, it seems the writers are beginning to lose track of the values that made the original so great. Nevertheless this third incarnation improves upon the second, adding the charismatic Buck who almost steals the entire show. Has the odd cringe-worthy joke.

Starts off, like the last one, very sequelly as new threads of development are forcibly pinned onto the the main three characters, but it picks up considerably once the fun adventure starts, which is notably well-animated, is fleshed out nicely (see Sid's dinosaur domestic disputes; Buck's constant quirkiness-see his rock-phone conversation), and has a great climax (see Diego playing doula while fighting). Scrat continues to steal the show though (the homemaking scene was hilarious).

A deferral of extinction and a detour to a subterranean tropical paradise, save some rapacious reptiles and a river of molten lava. The intermittent enlivener of the two earlier installments, the obsessive squirrel, is now as tedious as everyone else (in a mating dance, to a Barry White tune, with a bushy-tailed femme fatale squirrel); and the new character of a one-eyed weasel (Pegg) fails to take up the slack. No more beneficial is the added attraction of 3-D. Extinction can't come soon enough

Not as good as the first but I can still consider it a recommended viewing. There are some absolutely horrendously bad jokes in this film (a Flintstones gag that'll have even the most humour-adept rolling their eyes) however the enjoyable amount far outweighs the bad. If you liked the first one and the second left a sour taste in your mouth don't feel worried about giving the series another chance, this one is worth it.

Excellent movie, suggestive adult humor without being inappropriate. Thoroughly entertaining, and the character Buck is truly awesome. This is the summer sequel that's worth seeing. Way better'n the first two.

All of these films are pretty much mediocre. My kid went through a phase where we had to watch the series in subsequent family movie nights, and I know I watched this movie, and can remember some scenes from it due to the dinosaur specifics, but it's mostly mindless kid entertainment elevated by the talent of the voice acting, not necessarily the writing.

More of a straight-up adventure film than the more emotionally engaging previous chapter, this is still a lot of fun in an INDIANA JONES-lite kind of way, with the returning cast members clearly well and truly in the groove of their characters and Pegg a predictably charming addition. Scrat seems to take a marginal backseat this time round, but his desperate pursuit of the elusive acorn remains a highlight as always.

It's not really pitched at children since most of the plot involves issues like romance and being a parent, and a lot of the jokes are vaguely sexual. Everything is pitched at adults, but at the emotional and intellectual level of a child. It's just a big puerile heap of dumb humour, much like an animated Adam Sandler film. There's no characters or narrative logic or any jokes pitched about a 6th grade reading level.

Pretty good, but the franchise is starting to wear a bit long in the tooth. The overall story is the usual schmaltzy affair about the importance of family, but outside of that a lot of the humour works well, including a lot of surprisingly subtle references to other classic works of comedy which I can only attribute to Pegg being added to the cast.

Still just a useless cash-in, but not as bad as the previous film. There is finally some more competent cinematography, lighting, and set design. The plot is just a bunch of unrelated occurrences strung together, and the characters are stupid, static, and mostly unfunny. The squirrel interludes are still the best executed bits, but remain hopelessly awkwardly crammed into the film. The whole thing should have been 15 minutes shorter or so.

Not bad, but definitely not that good. Mediocre plot, mediocre script and mediocre voice acting just to name a few. (seriously, Queen Latifah, voice acting is not for you) I think the humour is more kid-based as well. The occasional "adult" joke is thrown in, but most of the time, they fall flat. They've stretched this out too far now and the lovable Ice Age film series is now beginning to melt away.

Mistakes - 1) In the credits, Josh Peck is said to voice Rudy. He actually voiced Eddie. 2) In the carnivorous plant scene, Manny grabs the fruit (the bait), which is sitting in the middle of the plant. In the next few shots, the bait disappears and then is replaced with a bulb that housed the red and blue "wires".

I'm going to give this film an opinionated review. And by opinionated I mean that I like it solely for all the wrong reasons to suggest a film to anyone. I like the film for Buck. I still enjoy the first Ice Age, finding it to be a charming film, but this one's very hit or miss. The animation is fantastic, and there are some inspired humorous moments, but at the same time it's bland and dopey. Lots of boring voice "acting" from the likes of Ray Romano and Queen Latifah, and quite a few bad jokes. It's at least better than the second film.

I'm surprised that continuation of a movie, 3rd in order and latest one, may be so damn good. Maybe the effect I experienced was improved by 3D version on a big screen but it's still a very good Ice Age part, definitely better than the second one (The Meltdown) and I can surely recommend it to any of the fans - Ice Age and animation-hungry ones. Go for it, especially in 3D version screen with friends or a partner. Lots of fun, guarantee.

Slightly improved from the second but still just okay. Buck was a nice new complement to the series, but not much else is supplemented to this film. A slight improvement on the second in the series but still no patch on the first, Dawn of the Dinosaurs actually exhibits a rarity in modern franchises: the introduction of a new character (the fearless Buck, voiced by Simon Pegg) who actually improves the cast, his antics genuinely amusing, pumping life into the increasingly-stagnant founding group. However, you still feel the sequels are simply weak 'episodes' in the Ice Age saga, whereas the original was a full and complete story.

Probably marginally better than the series second installment, the third in the Ice Age series is another likeable affair. It certainly lacks the generally intelligent writing and story of the first film, but still has some fun characters and a healthy dollop of imagination. It remains a shame however that the heartfelt core that made the first movie so enjoyable and endearing is now missing.

"Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" doesn't provide too many laughs, but enough to get you through the film. It relies too much on being cute. Cute dinosaurs, cute wooly mammoths and cute noises abound. It gets old quite fast. The new character, Buck, gets most of the laughs and manages to keep the film interesting when Scrat isn't on-screen. The animation is good, though nowhere near Pixar. In 3D, the film adds some novelty, looking as if it sinks into the screen, rather than poking your eye out.

A couple grins & clever lines. A lot of boring action. Annoying & tedious. And introducing a really stupid weasel character. Comedies that aren't funny are like stepping on a turd. It's not funny when it happens, and you laugh about your misfortune later.

An improvement over Ice Age 2, but it's not saying much. Scrat's quest for the acorn has just gotten tedious - adding a voluptuous (???) female squirrel didn't help. The jokes are smirk-worthy at best. The characters are still annoying assholes. And yeah, it's a total failure in terms of scientific accuracy. But the 3D was well done and the babies were cute. It's just a forgettable movie, unfortunately.
