There's a fair amount of nostalgia leading into the experience, but that none of my expectations were let down is remarkable. Duly iconic and unceasingly hilarious, led by a superb voice performance by John Leguizamo. The animation is dated but incredibly expressive and still very watchable.

Being I was 3 when this came out, I practically grew up on this movie. I'm a little biased because while it's not some mind blowing storytelling or cleverness to it, I absolutely love these characters. Nostalgia is obviously a factor in play here, but I still find this movie very entertaining today, even if it's aged a tad bit more than so other animated films for its time. Being 20 now, I can still say this will probably go down as top 5 animated movie all time for me.

Lacking any subversive wit that usually draws more mature audiences to this kind of film, it's just a series of obvious jokes (extinction and evolution one-liners) and cliche plot progression (what are three MEN gonna do with a baby?!).

Distinguishable from other 00's animated family blockbusters only by its "Ice Age" setting. All of these movies are really completely interchangeable. It's funny here and there but pretty useless.

A perfectly executed ragtag family road trip movie (that travel montage!) from hilarious odd couple beginnings (chatty and dim Sid and moody and sarcastic Manny are a great pair of lonely “bachelors, knocking about in the wild”) to poignant destination, and of course the friends we made along the way (double agent Diego has a strong arc: “That’s what you do in a herd”). Quippy banter and memorable scenes abound (the dodo melon fight is peak humour), and Scrat’s misadventures are a fun side plot.

As opposed to many animated films, whose characters seem to be overcharged on caffiene, Ice Age's Manny (a moody mammoth) has a relaxed and easy-going manner that nicely complents the hyperactive Sid (a simple-minded sloth) and the crusty Diego (a coniving smilodon). Even Diego finds himself won over by by Manny's warm heart and selfless loyalty to his friends, no matter how shiftless and annoying they might be.

I can never see a watermelon without quoting this movie. It contained some great metahistorical comments and the dialogues were witty, but the humour was mostly on the level of slapstick, which is a shame. Overall I liked it, but somehow it didn't always succeed in keeping me attentive. There's this little 'click' inside my head that's missing to make this a great movie.

Mistakes - 1) Even though it is snowing throughout much of the movie, none of the snow seems to stick to any of the characters' fur. Even during the fight scene when they are rolling around in it, they are never covered with white. 2) During the long sequence when the two animals are racing downhill through the snow, the weather suddenly changes from very snowy to extremely sunny.

Blue Sky Studio's first and by far their best effort to date. Ice Age's quality was a real surprise to me when I first watched it. Visually it is not quite up their with some of its competitors, but it still looks good. But more than that it is original, funny, well written and the characters were well rounded and likable. It remains in my opinion the only non-Pixar CGI film that comes close to capturing the same level of genuine emotion & depth that Pixar so often instill into their movies.

One of the best CGI films out there, certainly giving Pixar a run for its money. Appealing equally to all age groups, the film works on multiple levels. The plotline is good, characters are great using voice casting very well and the jokes provided throughout, mainly by Scrat, certainly keep the whole thing upbeat. Very enjoyable and an all round entertaining experience, Blue Sky Studios have made an impressive debut.

For a non-Disney animated film, this is a fun look at prehistoric times with a good mix of action and comedy for the entire family. The voice cast is spot on, but it's the wordless creature Scrat who steals nearly every scene. It spawned a bunch of sequels that don't measure up, but the first film is pretty good.

I guess it was cute. It starts out slow and very childish, but then it grows on you. I'm just glad I didn't watch it in a theater full of kids. This has the kind of humor that would have kids laughing at every little thing, which would have made it unbearable to watch.

Enjoyable, laid-back animated fare is strikingly/suspiciously similar to MONSTERS INC in some plot points, but this is still distinguished by attractive animation and some fine voice-over work, especially from Leguizamo and Leary (Romano seems stuck channelling the whiny qualities of his Raymond character). A pleasant enough journey, but fairly undistinguished.

While being a bit short on plot the various set pieces were somewhat entertaining, the Dodo and Ice Slide sequences being the highlights of these for me. The animation is sparse but colorful and holds up well for a early 2000 CGI animated film. In conclusion I feel this film is one best left to the kids to watch as there is not much here for the adults to find much enjoyment in.

Ice Age stands as average all across the board. It's not bad or especially good for the most part. There is nothing to find here that you can't find in many other (and better) animated films of the last fifteen years. The performers are fine and there's a chuckle to be had here and there. Again it's not terrible, just very average.

I loved this back when it came out. Now... it's lost a lot of its charm with age. Most of the characters are pretty irritating (with the exception of Scrat, who is hilarious but not in the movie enough), and in hindsight the Blue Sky Studios Formula is just as prevalent here as anywhere: distracting celebrity voices, too much toilet humor, and boring leads.

A perfunctory children's animated franchise. Could have been basically any characters in any setting, and the humor and character development would have been unchanged. The slapstick and physical comedy is occasionally successful thanks to good pacing and well-blocked shots, but most of the verbal humor is boring.

Wonderfully tight scripting and effective images mean that they could have sold this as an outstanding silent movie. But... they had to include a bowlful of the same old same old: American stars slumming it in an animation with no idea how to approach it other than some vague notion that funnier = louder & crazier. The animators and writers occasionally lose their nerve too - trusting in frenetic action and tiresome archetypes instead of their tense storytelling and stunning, poignant imagery.

It has been a while since I first saw it, and granted the first time I watched this in a different language but I felt like this movie has lost a little of it's magic. You can tell that CG effects were still in their earlier years. The comedy in this is great especially from Leguizamo. The real star of the film was Scrat the Saber-tooth squirrel, I loved every sequence he was in. The plot itself was a little thin, they find a human baby and try to bring it back to his "herd".
