This story first takes you to Misslimeri, a little Sicilian village, and into the home of Don Ruggero, a wealthy landowner. Don Ruggero is an iron-hearted man and strongly prejudiced against the lower classes. His son, Corrado, a young fellow, loves Rosalia, a shepherdess, but Don Ruggero has always refused to allow their marriage and to recognize little Vincenzino, their child, as his grandchild.

Considering this feature was made as early as 1912, it's a basic production, but since Italy was pretty much the leading movie nation at the time, I mille [A Sicilian Heroine] (1912) still manages to impress in some aspects. Unfortunately for me, the story didn't grasp my imagination as much as hoped. Regardless, it's always interesting to watch those early feature length films, and the ambitions they had.
