Went through three directors until W.S. Van Dyke got the job done. A weird romance between the good doc Spencer Tracy and exotic society girl Hedy Lamarr. Use a lot of time bashing the upper-classes and their vanity, but the two leads manage to make this half-butchered attempt likable in different directions. Quite fascinating to watch how this became a lot more digestible then it had the right to be.
