Am I supposed to be rooting for the woman who imprisons and robs the elderly? Is that really the main character?

Knives Out for stupid people. A smug movie that has the subtlety of a sledgehammer and thinks it's a lot smarter than it really is. I'm a big fan of black comedy, yet found all the characters loathsome and was rooting for them to all die. They were neither interesting nor likable. A series of ridiculous improbable events do not make for compelling plot twists - they are just dumb contrivances. I honestly haven't hated a movie this much in a while...

I can't believe the creators thought that the viewer would for one second root for this horrible protagonist. Are we supposed to You-Go-Girl this utterly evil and unpleasant woman, just because.. she's a woman and kicks guys asses, I guess? How sexist is that? This is probably meant as a satire on the American dream, but it fails completely as there's absolutely no one or nothing to care about in this atonal nightmare.

There's a difference between unsympathetic leads and loathsome infuriating protagonists. Actively hated this for nearly the entire runtime. A film has never needed a fast forward option more.

All surviving lesbian superpower vs looser toxic midget masculinity; voila, a new movie genre: "woke gender satire". It's strange how non of the reviews mention the very clear "gender war" symbols/undertones. The plot manages to have nearly as many self contradictions as the "woke gender ideology"...must have been difficult to pull it off :)

Pretty costumes and houses. Very interesting setup. The film lost a lot of steam after the beginning, since every time they had an opportunity to advance the plot they seemed to take shortcuts. Maybe not as cheap as gunfights, but close. Enemies are dispatched easily. Professionals are impotent and do not follow up. No thought is given to security. The "girl power" moments are ruined by caricature misogynists. Dinklage's height didn't matter. Fav scene: lawyer confronting Pike in her office.

This movie sets up an interesting character in an underexplored premise... and then makes it an absurdist romp about Russian mafia and stolen diamonds. Both Pike and the subject matter deserved better. A LOT better.

It starts in a soul-crushing but interesting way. You really hope people will get what they deserve, since there's no one to root for here. Instead, it just turns into a cartoony mess by the end that none of it matters.

Very interesting premise, but it's taken way too damn far into the realm of gratuitous absurdity for it to be anything great. Overall, a dull, mediocre viewing experience, unfortunately.

Gone Girl had mounting tension; I Care a Lot offers frustration. Pike's Marla is instantly set up as a smug, unsympathetic protagonist. The film exists in a tepid space between dark comedy & crime thriller, exemplified by Blakeson's inconsequential (& insistent) use of gender & an underwhelming theme of greed. I liked that characters didn't judge each other for their immoral actions, but for not playing by the rules of their game; however, like the film, that aspect never becomes fun.

Gone Girl is the obvious comparison because Pike is channeling that character again. I'm cool with that, it's enchanting because of how well she plays a manipulative, irredeemable character. Aside from that, the cat and mouse game played between her and Dinklage was pretty thrilling. Film got off to a slow start but once it got going it was entertaining seeing two evil sides square off, even if some of it on Pike's end was a little too convenient. I dig the ending quite a bit, too.

It seems a lot of people on here said it had a great premise, but no follow through. While I agree it could have done more with the premise, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Yes, there's no one to cheer for, but that's the point. My biggest problem is the believability of the ending. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good thriller.

Films about the evils of Late Stage Capitalism are a dime-a-dozen and when the final reckoning is made, this one could be entered as an exhibit in the inquiry as to why these films changed nothing.

People are truly an asset. Original premise, cynical. Too bad it didn't stay on that. Drama part was good but when it switched to action everything went downhill. Was it supposed to be about American dream, ageism, women's empowerment, misogyny or misandry?

God damn that ending, it did so well for so long, but the last few minutes.. This is a very beautiful film from start to almost end, and then those last 5 minutes.. Just sad.. Pike's relentless character, actually all the characters in this are really good, really well acted and directed film. Just the scripts ruins is at the end..

A movie that makes you enjoy being angry at characters, showing you a fresh a different version of evilness. Without spoiling anything, it reminded me of Layer Cake a little in its lesson. Some side characters were a bit cliché however, taking some small bits away from scenes they were in

I think the top value of this movie is that it exposed a dark business in this society. There are people and businesses who are sucking other people's blood and pretending to be angels. The lesbian and dwarf characters are just there to make plots more dramatic, I think there is no point to over-emphasize those elements, they are not the main takeaway aspect from this movie. However, I would expect the plot can take another turn that make the dwarf a hero, that he call the justice.

The mob subplot was dumb and juvenile. This would've been better more grounded in reality and the protagonist tip-toeing with the law enforcement and bureaucrats.

Outside of Peter Dinklage and Diane Wiest, who bring some measure of pathos to their characters, everything else (esp the two female leads) plays either flat or false. Pike's only out for her atrocious character was to go way over the top, I think--that at least would have been interesting. Instead, we get a wicked person who plays it cool and might have mommy issues. Even Isaiah Whitlock, who should have been fun in a piece like this, looks tired or bored.

A protagonist can certainly be unlikable or unrelatable, but when they are both the film will usually struggle to connect with me. I would also say a lot of the satire felt bland and misguided. However, it still felt unique enough for it to not fail as miserably as it could have.

Unfocused jet-black comedy starts strong, with Pike's ruthless and calculating heroine inspiring memories of Tracey Flick; the crossing and double crossing of the nefarious cast of characters is galvanising, especially once Wiest and Dinklage enter the picture. Begins to stall at the halfway mark, as the film switches gears and becomes a far more conventional thriller; it's a shame that the first act maddening satirical jabs at elder abuse couldn't be employed for a more richly ironic payoff.

Rosamund Pike is a psychopat. I don't say that as a compliment. Every movie in which she plays I want to murder her character and that's not a feeling I am looking for. I have no idea what kind of person is interested in watching so terrible personalities getting a happy ending, but I am definitely not. This was probably the last movie I have ever watched from her. Not recommended to anyone unless you are a mentally instable sociopath. Choose a movie that will not torture you.

A movie that is way more fun than it deserves to be. Rosamund Pike gives a hell of a performance. I felt the movie tonally got a bit mixed up after the water escape scene, but the ending brought a sweet conclusion to a story where both of our main characters are the absolute lowest kinds of people. If I had to sum up the film in recipe format it would be Equal parts Bombshell (2019) and John Wick (2014) baked together in a crust made from The Guest (2014)

Rosamund Pike'dan 1 intikam filmi. Zengin yaşlıların paralarını harcayıp huzur evine atan Marla, bulduğu yeni yaşlı müşterisi bayağı sorunlu çıkacaktır. Rosamund Pike kötü kadın rolünde başarılı. Film fazla uzun sürüyor. Sürükleyici ve akıcı kurgusuyla hem sinirlendiriyor. Hem de güldürüyor. Filmin sonunda, intikam alınıyor. Gel seninle biz berber dükkanı, pardon bakım evi açalım.

Bolstered by some tight performances, "I Care Lot" capitalizes on its intriguing plot by keeping you on your toes with suspense and twists and turns. I particularly enjoyed the dark sense of humour and the fact that you couldn't really tell which direction the ending would go in.

although it feels like it deliberately holds back that finishing touch, the fact that it is very mindful of and attentive to almost every political aspect of its story makes the way the film underplays its story worth it. pulling off such a political commentary without being didactic and being entertaining at the same time is not a small feat.
