The semi-documentary look was effective in making me feel immersed in the setting. Records makes for a convincingly disturbed protagonist and Lloyd is perfectly cast. Doesn't really go anywhere truly interesting, but I was enjoying the ride. Erm, not in a messed up way though. I am not a serial killer.

Low-key, creepy horror film offers Lloyd his best role since his heyday (which he tackles with gusto), though Records is equally as good as the ambiguous lead. With its gritty 16MM photography and icy atmosphere, it feels deliberately evocative of a certain brand of 80s VHS horror, though it is arguably more fun on the journey than at the destination, with a somewhat perfunctory finale.

What distinguishes this movie from the rest of the pack is its restraint. There are a lot of undertones just bubbling throughout and with Loyd and Records at the helm, it'd be dumb to pull the trigger a little too early. No, this film really revels in the mystery and lets the performances steer the ship. It may not have any philosophical depth, but its both meticulous and yet somehow organic. A very well executed movie.

I truly wonder what expectations everyone else went into this film with (was there hype around it? apparently there was a book?) that left them so disappointed in it. I'm glad I knew next to nothing about it before watching it. I absolutely adored it and feel like it's what's been so severely lacking in good horror/drama lately.

The approach to this film is to know very little about it before diving in. Unpacking this quirky coming-of-age horror tale is thoroughly enjoyable, as it deliberately lets the viewer see each piece at its own pace. Visually, the 16mm photography is perfect for that specific messy look that almost has a 70s feel to it. Obviously the budget hinders the film's biggest moment, but the remainder of the film has some wonderfully placed gore moments.

Creepy, odd, and enjoyable. I Am Not a Serial Killer is a mildly slow, yet thrilling film that manages to catch you off guard numerous times. My main complaint is the someone anticlimactic ending, but the rest of the film is solid and original (minus a potential strong inspiration from Jeepers Creepers). I also have not read the novel this is adapted from, so I can't say how faithful it may be. I'd say it's worth a watch if it peaks your interest.

I didn't know what I was going into, starting this movie, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I think that's the best way to view this movie, too, not necessarily knowing what genre it is set in or what the plot details are. The small town vibes are there, the music choices are great and some scenes just look so good and bleak. I didn't think the ending was quite as powerful as it could have been, but that use of 'Spirit In The Sky' was the bomb.

Odd weird and very reminiscent of Phantasm in many ways including the score. The acting is pretty good but not remarkable but the whole thing is quite unique which made it all the more enjoyable.

I think the ending might be a little too on the nose.

I had no idea what I was getting from this film going in, and I ended up really enjoying it. Particularly, I was very interested in the more Supernatural turn that it took.

Quiet little film. I enjoyed the cast, especially the dramatic punch from lloyd which i wasn't expecting at all. The story itself isn't much but the characters make it engaging. Records' characters resolution in the end was a little too neat for how troubled he is but not so much as to ruin the film. Does well in capturing a "close to home" sensation in the direction.

A little too slow burn to ever scare, but funny in it's juvenile horror ways.

Weirdly (and beautifully shot), but the 'reveal' is lackluster.

It cleaves so close to the novel that it has nothing new to add or anything different, it's just a boring straight adaptation
