I tried to describe this movie to someone; I couldn't, so I made them watch it.

Hukkle estreava há 20 anos no Festival de Toronto. Por meia hora foi brilhante, os bagos do porco balançando na nossa cara é especialm genial, mas a partir do momento que um firetor decide matar um gato em cena o filme acabou pra mim. Em cinema até os anos 70 e 80 eu tendo a tolerar esse tipo de selvageria porque era um outro mundo, um mundo de um cinema sem lei, mas fazer isso em pleno século XXI só engatilha meu desprezo. Hukkle, n'ayant point de replique, raconte l'histoire de la vie et la mort, mais la mort concrete et terrestre. Des compositions de cut créent le sens que "le monde se tourne au tour de mon hukkle" a travers des images, des voix, des cycles que nous partagons avec d'autres vivants. Sans remarqant que le réalisasteur fait un cut, vous tombez aux contexts, récits, sensations des différents vivants ainsi que des événements qui sont rien avec d'autre

Gentle and graceful, admittedly almost too much to the extent that the film feels almost insubstantial and incredibly slight. Still the film is quite a pleasure to watch for the most part. Both charming (the rural life) and annoying (the titular hiccuping sound), both visually captivating (the mole!) and cumbersome (some bad CGI and a couple visual flourishes which feel out of place), with the sinister goings being given as little weight as everything else in the film to interesting effect.
