Trying to criticize any Happy Madison production now is just a bout of pissin’ in the wind. You get what you get, this one was fine but a tad bit too long *piss splashing back into my face now*

The vast majority of Sandler's films these days appear to be lazy, atrocious comedies that serve only to support his friends and colleagues acting careers by miraculously making shit tons of money with very little effort. It's kind of magnanimous to suppress your own acting for the sake of Rob Schneider's paycheck, I'll leave it to you to determine if that's an endorsement or a damnation.

A plea to stop hating on Sandler just because his dumb comedies make bank. He never hurt nobody! But now we're in the middle-age mustache phase of his career and it's all more awkward. When he goes gray I hope he does a serious character drama about the Zagats sketch where he begrudgingly discovers his passion for fine dining after his partner dies, finally accepts her love and then follows through on the suicide he always threatened. Charlie Kaufman directs. Deep down you know that's a winner.

Morbid curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to watch this Sandler/Netflix Halloween gimmick of a movie, and to my surprise...it wasn't completely terrible. Sure it's an incredibly dumb/cringey boner/fart/cameo filled 'family'{?} comedy, but hotsake is spot on, this totally feels like a second rate "Ernest Scared Stupid"(1991) meets "The Waterboy"(1998), and I was kind of okay with that. So if you still don't hate Sandler's goofy-voiced lovable idiot schtick yet, you might have some fun.

It's not very good, it's not very funny but by the end I felt strangely satisfied, and not just cause it was over. The Waterboy set at Halloween was clearly the pitch and the central storyline is pointless and uninteresting, but there are a few laughs and gags that amuse, mostly involving Buscemi, Rudolph and Meadows. Not the worst thing you could watch around Halloween

I know a lot of people are going to shit on this movie but I enjoyed it well enough. Its not really good but its entertaining. Take the Waterboy and mix it with Ernest Scared Stupid and you get this.

Well this was proper excruciating. Where does Adam Sandler come up with these icepick-to-your-eardrums voices?

Rating is meaningless. It's a return to the Sandler of 'old' with a holiday twist. Does it work? Not really. Is it funny? Occasionally. Better than his other films made specifically for Netflix (faint praise), and mercifully short, Sandler does just enough to hang on to his audience. Questions of longevity are no more or less answerable now than they were when Grown Ups 2 was released, especially given the low cost of engagement in the streaming world. We are all complicit and therefore guilty.

Sitting down to complain that Hubie's thermos makes no logical sense. I am very smart.

Kind of a Frank Capra heartwarming "loser" story mixed with Farrellys sensibility towards the neglected, bullied and mocked. Best Happy Madison flick in quite some time, with some nice tiny comic bits beyond the obvious stuff -- Buscemi's werewolf, Hubie's mom t-shirts.

Most horror comedy movies approach the comedy with a disdain for horror (having seen the Scary Movies this October, I am all too aware of this), but Hubie has more Great Pumpkin in its DNA. Sandler adopting the baby voice to remind us that adults too can enjoy the spirit of Halloween. Hubie may be a loser who spends the entire movie getting ridiculed, but he's our loser - if that isn't a good moral for a Halloween special, I don't know what is. Now, was it funny....ehhh.

Not as enjoyable as Little Nicky or Anger Management, but certainly one of Happy Madison Productions' finest. For a company that made radioactive waste like Grown Ups and The Master of Disguise, that doesn't mean a lot though.

Sandler jokingly said if he didn't get an Oscar nomination for Uncut Gems (which he should've easily won) he would make "the worst movie everyone has ever seen" but that's not him. That's not Sandler. Just like it isn't Hubie. He'll be back with a smile on his face waiting to win over a crowd of doubters and I think maybe just maybe he's won over more critics and "intellectuals" in the past couple years than he has in a long time. Shout out Shaq.

Typical Adam Sandler movie. Good cast, nice movie to watch when you're tired and don't want to watch something with substance and instead laugh at dumb stuff.

I laughed or tittered out loud at i) the "Bye!" weenie wiener; ii) the egg thermos bike vomit; iii) June Squibb's vulgar novelty t-shirts numbers 1, 3, and 5; iv) Steve Buscemi doing the no-duh shoulder-shrug when he's all were-wolfy; v) Rob Schneider peeing his mental hospital pants (but NOT Adam Sandler wearing his pee sheets as ghost-skin); vi) NOT when I typed "tittered" up there; vii) Maya Rudolph; viii) when I lied just then about not laughing when I typed "tittered" up there

Tries to merge some of the old charm from classic Adam sandler movies like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, with a PG-13 sort of Scooby-Dooesque mishmash. It has a cheap few laughs but overall does not come even close to Sandler's comedies from ten (?) years ago.

It's an Adam Sandler movie. The comedy, the character he plays, etc. is all familiar. But if you LIKE this formula then you can find more to enjoy. I don't happen to like Sandler comedy but there were a few good jokes. The problem is there are too many jokes and even some of the more clever attempts (to which there are a few) often get drowned by having to POINT OUT THE JOKE. I did like the plot generally though, it was pretty interesting... better than expected in that regard.

In the running for dumbest accent Sandler has ever committed to film. Truly scary when the man in the hospital gown and pig mask stood over a handcuffed Steve Buscemi and revealed himself as Rob Schneider. Oh the horror. I must admit, it gets darned sentimental towards the end. Like a shittier Forrest Gump.

I have to give Sandler credit for filming outside of NYC and LA. That said, if you can get past his normal and otherwise tiring inner circle of friends that seem to appear in EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF. HIS. MOVIES, at least you get something you can watch with the kids.

Not surprisingly, those Happy Madison films (in particular in the Netflix era) that are most enjoyable to watch (as opposed to those that are almost unwatchable) are those with an actual plot that infuses the antics of Sandler and friends with some sense of meaning. This is one of those films. The references to (in)famous Halloween films as well as some of Sandler's most well known and loved films ('Billy Madison' and 'Happy Gilmore) are fun to behold.
