Hua Mulan

My favorite part of the Mulan story is when Mulan was too emotional to lead. Yep that's perfect for female icon Mulan. The movie chooses to not care about the gender plot after beginning to establish it, but that's cause this movie rushes through most of a 12 year war. Characters die when we've barely had time to connect with them, but apparently we were suppose to care. Also the editing is awful, both in sound mixing and the fading to white, which happens about once every 2 minutes, not a joke

Rough start but very much worth it in the end.

A shame they couldn't put a decent script around the very good performances.

A pretty decent historical drama. Maybe copied a thing or two from movies like Gladiator (including the plot) but still.
