The best silent film I've seen from Karel Lamac so far. Didn't hurt that it's one that recently had restoration work done to it. But the general artist atmosphere of Hríchy lásky [The Sins of Love] (1929) is what's the draw here. I'm sure they could have gotten more out of the actual plot, but the scenes are often masterfully shot, even if it lacks the iconic moments.
