In 1994 Oregon became the first state to legalize physician-assisted suicide. At the time, only Belgium, Switzerland, and the Netherlands had legalized the practice. I guess since I don't cry much at the end it felt like the lower and top half of my body were drifting away in different directions...

It's hard for me to find words to describe what I felt while watching this documentary. It was a very emotional experience, because it really is a very deep and touching subject. Also hard to believe why some people are so strongly against euthanasia.. Maybe because some people haven't experienced themselves or people near them the devastating effects of a serious or terminal illness

Sobering. The type of thing that will make you hug everyone you know. But at times I had to question the morality and effect of the camera in these instances. Watching a doc with such inevitability felt a bit wrong. You could watch 5 minutes of this and be convinced.

This polemical documentary is at turns maudlin, grim, and boring. At its worst, it manages an unwholesome combination of all of the above.

I relate to Cody because she's a perfectionist and tries hard to live an apparently ideal life so those around her see her in a positive light. She's very high strung and I know this movie's not about that but it gave me a lot to think about for my own life (ironically? But maybe that's exactly the point).

As much as I agree with the makers of the documentary about the law and the morality of the option to die when you want I still don't think it's a well made documentary and that's what this has to be graded on - quality of film not agreement with sentiment

An absolutely gut-wrenching documentary, no matter your stance on the issue. It really captures why someone would indeed rather die than live with such a tremendously painful illness. I don't see how a rational person could watch this, from start to finish, and really feel that assisted suicide shouldn't be a choice available to everyone if they need it.

A heart-wrenching documentary about the Death with Dignity Act in Oregon chronicles a few individuals' experiences with this unimaginable choice.

In 1994 Oregon became the first US state to legalize physician-assisted suicide. This unsentimental and heart-wrenching documentary tells the stories of terminally ill Oregonians, their families, doctors, and friends. With much tact it looks deep into the abyss.
